Kingsmill 50/50 bread..

Hi guys does anyone else with ibs-d suffer with cramps and going to the toilet more after you've eaten Kingsmill 50/50 bread? I'm fairly sure I've had issues in the past but you get through it, get over it and forget. On Tuesday I brought this bread, thinking it may be one I cant eat but couldn't remember. So I've been eating it for a few days and today I'm in terrible pain and keep going to the loo. I'm usually fine with white bread too, I haven't eaten brown in a while just because I'm not a huge fan of the taste. Has anyone else had issues like this?

If it's the ordinary Kingsmill 50/50 this is what it contains:

Wheat Flour (33%) (with calcium, iron, niacin (B3) and thiamin (B1)), Wholemeal Wheat Flour (33%), Water, Yeast, Salt, Vegetable Oils (Rapeseed, Sustainable Palm), Vinegar, Sustainable Soya Flour, Emulsifier: E472e; Preservative: Calcium Propionate; Flour Treatment Agent: Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C).

So maybe one or more of those ingredients don't suit you? Kingsmill do a "boost" loaf too which has vitamins etc added. If it was that one, check the ingredients. There might be some artificial sweetener like sorbitol.

Yes, it's the high fibre content, the whole grain flour etc that your IBS can't tolerate.

I have not been able to eat kings mill for years, I use promise free from rolls and bread, or Sainsbury free from bread for toast, they are not to bad but better than getting bad IBS

Could it be the soya flour?

It might be the fibre in it? I can rarely eat anything 'wholemeal' or brown any more nowadays with ibs-d. I can just about tolerate the level of fibre I get in 2-3 portions of steamed veggies per day, and even that some days is too much.

Hey guys thank you very much for the responses. It makes me feel a little better knowing that im not the only one who suffers and it 100% looks like it was the bread. Im on day 3 of cramps which is starting to bring me down. I very rarely deal with cramps with my ibs so this is a new area where im not really sure what to do. I don't think ill ever be eating wholemeal again 😑
