I'm right there with you. I'm going to a teaching hospital (basically it's a hospital affiliated with a college). I am going to two places. I'm tired of being dismissed. These hospitals are on the cutting edge of medical advancements. I also googled "digestive institutes cutting edge treatments" and found St. Elizabeth. So keeping my fingers crossed but trying not to have much expectations. I don't have prolapse at least yet..but I do have very poor if any pelvic floor. I can't push stool out. I have to take a lot of laxatives once a week and drink apple juice (a mild laxative) and strong coffee black with six stevia packets. It helps me be "empty sooner" so I am not going all day. I hope things get sorted out. I know it's easy to get discouraged. But never give up..xo

Same here. Iv literally cut out loads of food and the bloating never goes away its soooo frustrating. I follow the fodmap diet. Im starting to think mine is now actually stress related but who knows. I also suffered with the constipation however this has eased alot so its just the bloating and the waves in my bowel constantly

I’m with you fed up my life taken over with. Ibs-c been dismissed by specialist who says learn to live with it . Had all the tests no cancer find which I’m glad of . But no answers . I’ve got scar tissue which causes my problems and narrowing in my bowel . Been told the other day to work out for my self what laxative work . I’m 67 and last two years have ruined my life. But we can’t give up I hope you get some help and answers . Tried gluten free never helped . Also food map but now just eat small portions and no proceed foods but still need laxido 2 a day . Walking helps me but sometimes only round the house . Take care and stay strong 😀

I tried to explain it to someone and all I could define it as is like having 'wind' in my legs but sometimes from the hips downwards..only another IBS sufferer said it was yet another symptom...pain killers hot water bottle warm bath all help a bit .

I bought some milk thistle but not started taking it yet does it help. With bloating and constipation or loose stools as I suffer from c and bloating .

I know how it feels when I’m able to walk out I wander about like a drunk person as legs are weak . I was really active before this hit not sporty just working and doing normal stuff . Now I count going to M&S a achievement . But so tired of fighting the pain . And I feel sorry for m6 husband of over 40 years as he wants to do so much and I’m unable to do things like travelling or just going out for dinner . I drink peppermint tea and it helps a bit and buscopan tablets . But I was told to eat kiwi as they help constipation . But still a prisoner in m6 own house . But we have to keep going even though it’s hard . 💕

I have constipation from having to take pain meds for fibromyalgia. Miralax and Lactulose don't work due to side effects. I have tried most things but they don't work well. I am basically on my own because my doc doesn't have any more ideas. Will keep trying things.

It is so frustrating and they say taking too much laxatives make your bowel lazy but sometimes you need them, you cld try optifibre it is good.

Kdw1, it's easy to become laxative dependent. Our foods and supplements lack sufficient magnesium and thiamine needed for the brain gut axis to function properly, Adequate magnesium is needed for thiamine to become it's activated form. Magnesium has a calming effect on the body but stress causes loss. Search on "krispin magnesium" for a list of others. One form, magnesium threonate, is able to pass the blood brain barrier easier than other forms however it's a good idea to use several as each contributes unique benefits. The krispin site has a formula to calculate daily magnesium. Like magnesium, thiamine is diminished by anti thiamine factors. A comprehensive list is found on the stuttersence blog. Search on "stuttering anti thiamine factors". Research the fat soluble thiamine forms Benfotiamine, TTFD and Sulbutiamine for the benefits they offer. The B vitamins work better together so get to know more about each of them. Always consult your health care professional before using any supplement.

Starcatty, in addition to benefiting IBS, search on "fibromyalgia thiamine" for possible relief.
