I’ve just about given up .tired fighting this illness I’ve got constant pain and was told apart from pain killers nothing they can do . To cut a long story short I’ve got Diverticular and redundant bowel with scar tissue causing narrowing of the bowel . Doctors just look at all the scans and say I’ve to learn to live with it . So at start of the lockdown is when I got told .Fed up going to doctors and only getting phone call . But today I’m just had enough . My life is s—— or the lack of it Moan over and rant . I’m 66 and just had enough . Sorry ,

Fed up
So sorry to read about everything you have been going through since the first lockdown. Moaning and ranting is ok. It's really hard when the doctors don't seem able to do anything. Have you been offered any "alternative" therapies? I had acupuncture years ago to help with IBS pain, it did help but I had to pay and it wasn't cheap.
Sending a virtual hug to you.
Hi Jackie I’ve tried walking exercise and massage . But will look into acupuncture. I’m also deaf I lost my hearing through a illness before I had bowel trouble . And need someone with me at all appointments. But I can lip read but masks have put a end to that . So finding everything harder to cope . But can’t give up but it’s hard
I relate to how frustrated you must be I'm in the same boat but thank god I'm 70 and don't have a long lifetime of pain to endure as some younger posters do. Imagine being 40 and told the same .☺️😑
I have lived with it for 35 years and definitely getting a bit pissed off with it now, to say the least. I find it so much harder to deal with now I am older (63), it has definitely got worse over the years!
Yes it does seem to get worse that or as we age we are less able to cope with it ?
I’ve only had it for 2years and just at the start of the virus and lockdown . But it’s got worse . But I’m just get fed up with the daily battle . 😟
Mine seems to have got worse since Covid. I wondered if I had Covid when it all kicked off without knowing it. My husband thinks he might have had it because he had been with friends who had been abroad and then went down with it. He woke up in the middle of night feeling like he was having trouble breathing. He didn't wake me because he didn't want to worry me. Next morning he was fine but did find he was getting out of breath when going out for his bikes rides immediately after this. It took about 2/3 months before he got back to normal! So it makes me wonder if I might have had it with no symptoms and that is what is causing the worsening of my IBS!
I fully understand how you feel and you have all my sympathy. I’m 75 and have had ibs for about 35 years. Over the years I’ve had various tests and tried many many different things but nothing has helped. Also I have arthritis and prediabetes. My husband has dementia and I’m his full time carer. We’ve shielded for the whole time since March last year. I’m struggling at the moment with it all.
Thanks for your reply I couldn’t answer before as I would just get to upset thinking about it and trying to cope . I’ve only had it 2years and at 66 so glad I never suffered for years I hope they find a cure for younger people . I still feel this illness is underestimated in how it can destroy your life. But we have to keep fighting .

My dad had diverticulitis.he had operation and it helped.i recallbtheuly stretched his bowel.

Thanks George I’ve tried most things and do all you suggest . Apart from the medication . But will look into that . I’ve asked for a op to help but doctor and specialist both told me that I’ve got scar tissue that’s causing more problems if they remove it it will come back again . So I’ve had all the scans and tests and it came back twisted and redundant bowel with diverticulitis . Seen specialist and his words to me where I’ve got no magic wand to help you .you have to learn to live with it . That was the start of the first lockdown so I’ve been left to deal with it myself . I’m glad you have found something that helps . 😋
Hopefully they will find something that will work for you or better still a cure 😁
