Have you tried adjusting your diet - do you know about the low FODMAPs elimination diet which works brilliantly for so many of us on here?

dont know what FODMAPs are can you help

It's a diet to help eliminate 'trigger' foods, i.e. those which set-off IBS symptoms. It's not a fad diet and NHS dietitians are now trained to advise on it. It was developed at Monash Uni and this is the website link:

med.monash.edu.au/cecs/gast...

The app on there is brilliant and well worth the £6 cost.

Best book I found on it was 'IBS-Free At Last' by Patsy Catsos.

It's a pretty tough regime initially as you completely cut out 5 food groups until you get improvements (usually around 3-4 weeks) and then you add them back in one-at-a-time to see which ones affect you.

Many people on here have done it very successfully, including me - I think it actually saved my sanity!

I agree with the above do try FODMAPS using the Monash app

how do i get the app does it cost anything does it work on hudl or laptop as no phone?

in reply to poshette

I've put the link for the app and its cost in my previous post.

Go to link given by Rosie218 and you can see all about it. If you don't have a phone maybe you could use hudl. If that is an android device or use the info on website via your laptop.

You could try eliminating food groups from your diet yourself, ie dairy, for at least 2/3 weeks keeping a food and bowel movement diary to chart any changes

Here is a link for a RADAR key which will open any locked disabled toilet in the UK

also you can get an 'I can't wait card'

thank you have a key but not sure where?as for can't wait card i actually saw someone use one of these and was refused use of toilet so i have not got one cos i would be devastated if that happened to me

in reply to poshette

I've used my card with no problems - however a lot of shops and pubs also are made use of

in reply to poshette

You need to find your key or buy another one because it will give you more confidence

I agree get your key and use it. I have used my I can't wait card on numerous occasions and if you insist enough people will help you. I have used car show rooms offices and small shops to name a few. You usually get we don't have a public toilet answer, just say I am desperate ( by the look on my face they can tell I really am) show card and people are usually not that horrible to refuse someone that desperate.

Have you tried self hypnosis for the anxiety factor? I used IBSaudioprogram100.com which is a set of cd's you use every night for 100 days. It helped me a lot and I still refer to it when I feel the need.
