What do you take for pain?

Hi, I take Buscopan

edwangy profile image
edwangy in reply toShaz8465

does it work? Does nothing for me, neither do any other antispas

Shaz8465 profile image
Shaz8465 in reply toedwangy

It works for me. Try ibuprofen it can help as its anti inflammatory

edwangy profile image
edwangy in reply toShaz8465

Can't take nsaids, codeine or any antiinflammatory. They can make things worse. Thanks anyway

Shaz8465 profile image
Shaz8465 in reply toedwangy

Sorry to hear this. There is another antispasmodic from the GP. I will find out the name

edwangy profile image
edwangy in reply toShaz8465

You're very kind, I've tried buscopan, alverine and now have mebeverine, none of them work. I think my pain is neurological and most meds for that cause constipation, it's a vicious circle.

in reply toedwangy

I just live with it. Its better if i stand up. No pain killers but dr did prescribe pregabalin.

Really try a high dose of vitamin C in order to see if gives you more energy and makes it so your bowel movements are constrained to the morning.

Hi After my second Pizher I started with an IBS flare up back in April then things improved after a couple of week then had my booster November 21st 2021 and few days after have had an awful flare up till going to this day. I didn’t want to get the booster but I thought we’ll we are told too but I will not be having any more. I ve had other symptoms since the Covid vaccine too, just want it to be out of my system now.

I ve been told as the vaccine attacks ur immune system if you have a weaker area it can irritate it more such as us have IBS (not sure how true that is but have been told that)

Absolutely awful ibs attack after Moderna booster. Had also started to take Iron tablets which cause havoc with system too. This was around 1st week December and still suffering. Pfizer did not affect me at all.

Oh yes and it's taken nearly 6 weeks to get back to some sort of normality. I had the Astra Zenneca for my first 2 does and was fine, but the Moderna booster floored me. IBSD was dreadful, red arm that kept spreading, flu symptoms, fatigue, but the toilet issues were dreadful. Glad I'm not alone !

I had the Moderna booster just before Christmas and I thought that I was going to be OK, but two weeks later I had the worst flare up I have had for many years. Digestive distress, constipation, headaches and myalgia. I'm still not feeling that good, but I'm hoping that the worst is over. I yellow carded it and would urge others to do the same so that the makers of the vaccine are aware of this side effect.

Shaz8465 profile image

I out in a yellow card too

Sparrow58 profile image

You should report it on the yellow card For side effects.

You best me to it! Yes all should report on yellow card or different adverse effect system according to geography.

I haven't yet had booster but did have very bad vomiting and cramps that lasted for days following first AZ vaccine. I have just had covid and this has also led to flare up lasting several days so I would still get the vaccine/boosters as it's better to have ibs than ibs plus covid in my opinion

Bassem1979 profile image
Bassem1979

Please could someone advice how to yellow card it Do I just google it

I had Covid last November before any vaccines were out. I also have lupus and other issues. Diarrhea was one of my symptoms. Since that is already a weakness, I do think the virus attacks weakened areas. Now over a year, I still have lingering symptoms including worse intestinal issues and lack of taste and smell. I have not have the shots and my doctors have not pushed the issue in spite of my immune system. As I still have symptoms, there is no way to know what the shots could do. I have trusted my instincts at this point. I know a lot of people disagree with my thinking, but after reading everyone's posts, I just feel that the shots could add to my issues and I think I still have antibodies.

Healing hugs.

I had my first booster in October. This was followed by the worst IBS-D flare of my life. Two months of hell. Couldn't eat, didn't dare go out. Stabilized now, thank God, along with acacia fibre and low-dose Nortriptyline. I've been offered a second booster but don't have that particular death-wish!

Shaz8465 profile image
Shaz8465 in reply toTEACH21

Ask for a different vaccine. I had two AZ but Moderna booster and thats what caused my flare up. My sixth week of misery at the moment

TEACH21 profile image
TEACH21 in reply toShaz8465

Unfortunately I am in long-term care, so I don't get a choice. I am currently refusing to take the booster! Medical staff not happy with that, so we'll have to see what happens next.

Shaz8465 profile image
Shaz8465 in reply toTEACH21

So sorry to hear that. I hope you get what you need. Hugs

I had the booster and I was both constipated but needed to go quickly to the toilet for a few days without ever feeling relieved. I took a large dose of vitamin C (1000mg) followed by about a pint of pineapple juice that completely emptied my bowels. I have continued with the vitamin C and also started a 6 week course of berberine in case the bacteria in my stomach was off... it seems to be working with solid daily stools. However, eat berberine with meals and hydrate a lot otherwise it can dehydrate you.

Shaz8465 profile image
Shaz8465 in reply toeyeofthetiger123

I take highly concentrated cranberry tablet to protect me from UTI,s as I am Diabetic. I think the pineapple juice would kill me lol. I can't eat any veg except carrots and no fruit at all due to IBS-D. No wheat no dairy either. I am going to my GP next week something has to give

eyeofthetiger123 profile image
eyeofthetiger123 in reply toShaz8465

Then definitely ask your doctor about berberine and how to take it in a safe way so it doesn’t interfere with your diabetes medication as it is herbal version of metformin regarding how the body deals with sugar. But with added antibacterial properties. Also, ask for a sibo test or seek help from Gojiman who gives YouTube videos on this subject. I hope this is the beginning of the end for all of your ibs dismay!

Shaz8465 profile image
Shaz8465 in reply toeyeofthetiger123

Thank you for this, I will speak to my GP as soon as I can. Hugs

What is berberine and will pineapple juice relief my chronic constipation? I'm at my wit's end with it all. 🥺🥺

eyeofthetiger123 profile image
eyeofthetiger123 in reply toRunefinder61

Berberine tends to help with stomach infections, and so I don’t know if it has helped with constipation as it made my stools go back to being solid after being loose. If you want to deconstipate yourself try the following: - aloe Vera (solution is best) with meals three times per day (do this over a weekend and then change to once per day) as it will initially act as a cleanse, otherwise peppermint oil with meals (this can be done on an ongoing basis), turmeric tablets (a strong anti-inflammatory, makes waste easier to pass), slippery elm (very good for ibs of all kinds), and a magnesium and vitamin C. Apart from the last two, I would experiment with the others trying a five days at a time to see what you prefer... I personally like slippery elm out of all of these. Bromelain in pineapple is a strong anti inflammatory which will help with constipation, but so will eating the pineapple.

Runefinder61 profile image
Runefinder61 in reply toeyeofthetiger123

Thank you. I can't tolerate aloe Vera. And i take tumeric every day . Never tried slippery elm tho . So I'll get some . And pineapple too. I've been trying juicing and cutting out onions and garlic etc. But I really feel these jabs have exasapated my IBS. 🥺🥺

My IBS flared after booster too! Still having major issues and depending on results of two different bowel samples, further testing suggested!

So glad I found your post and all the replies. My IBSc has been awful since I had the jabs. But worse after Pfizer one. Bloating , pain , awful constipation. Drs don't seem to take this condition seriously at all! What is a yellow flag? Xxxxx

Shaz8465 profile image
Shaz8465 in reply toRunefinder61

Sorry to hear you are suffering too. A yellow card is a report you fill in online and it goes to the manufacturer of drug or vaccine to inform them of a new side effects to the vaccine.

Yes, horrendous IBS flare after Moderna booster. GP said he knew of this but they can't 'prove' the link. Constant gas problem. He did stomach exam and said I was full of gas...I told him that...but didn't know how I could solve it. Colpermin seems to help a little, but worse as soon as I lay down

Shaz8465 profile image
Shaz8465 in reply toGillHP

I can't take Colpermin or any sort of peppermint. I slice some ginger root and steep in in hot water for five minutes before drinking. It works for me. Good luck
