Ultra sound

I got a phone call asking to go for a ultra sound tomorrow which I’ve been waiting on I said yes , but after I came off the phone . I forgot to say I was constipated . As not been to toilet at all today . I’m just scared they won’t see anything . As it’s first thing in the morning, just in a lot of pain as well . But I will attend . It’s to check my gallbladder and liver . . Does constipation hinder ultra sound ?

I wouldn’t think so , they will be able to tell from the ultrasound that you are constipated as it will show up on the scan , but I’d definitely go it may be really helpful

Thanks for your reply . I’ve waited awhile for the ultra sound be good to get it done and results might explain all the pain . 😀

I had a blockage and fortunately I managed to shift it before the ultrasound. Sadly they still could visualise my small bowel for some reason. If a gall bladder issue its easy to spot if there is a problem with that little sucker. I had mine out in 2015

It’s for my gallbladder and liver . I have slow transit bowel so my bowel is never fully empty as everthing takes so long to pass through. But will see what happens tomorrow .

I Doubt it. Just mention to staff and they will have dealt with many real life situations and know what to do to recalibrate the device and look after you as a whole person nicely

I had a scan with a compacted bowel I was completely blocked and everything showed up with my gaul bladder as that was why I was going for scan don't worry 😅

Hi everyone I went for my scan the nurses where brilliant as I’m profoundly deaf . But they explained everything to me . I told them about my bowel issues and they said that it wouldn’t interfere with the scan .it was all done in 20 minutes so that was good . . My son took me as he was off work . Results will take 10 days to come through . I’m just hoping I get some answers as can’t deal with the pain every day for hours . But the website gives me a bit of comfort knowing I’m not alone . 😀 thanks everyone for their replies 😊

I’m glad everything went okay for you x

Three mission figs a day plus a glass of water. Dried figs are fine. Tastes great, and works better than anything else I've tried. Even those awful fiber drinks. Didn't make me sick either.

I love your screen name. I love to be read to too. What's your favorite? My recent favorite is Flora and Ulysses: The Illuminated Adventures. I enjoy the audio book, the reader is amazing, but maybe that's a no go as you wrote you're profoundly deaf. It's also fun to read to yourself and enjoy the drawings.

I tried fresh figs as not so keen on dried . My favourite fruit is kiwis and I eat prunes as well . I enjoy reading and do read a lot . But miss music and the cinema I just lost my hearing overnight 12 years ago i went to bed and woke up deaf . Doctors and specialists said I had viral infection that just took my hearing . So only got very little in my right ear .but that I can live with . It took me a month to learn to walk straight without bumping into things as your hearing is your balance . I still walk like a drunk lady 😂but my bowel issues are the pits . But try my best to stay positive . I knit but wish I could paint . .my grandson can draw better than me . 😂

I'm sorry. It's wonderful you have a sense of humor about it all.

I know. I went from a young woman with foot pain to an old lady overnight. Neurontin took my vision, my hearing, and my balance from me overnight. Never to be recovered. Also blew out my ankles. Cute on ducks, not so much me.🦆

I know the feeling apart from the duck thing I’m sticking with the wee drunk woman 😂I’ve tried everything but I do have vision issues as well but again lockdown didn’t help . So will have to see optician soon . . I also went from a support worker with people with learning difficulties in their own home to needing help my self . But if we don’t laugh sometimes as cried enough all ready . 😀

I don't know about you, but for me cry is only cry. Laugh is a wee break.

Hello - I’m new on here so hello! I have sjogrens and lupus and (phone diagnosed so not really sure!) IBS. I’ve had constipation since 7yrs old - now 58! I’ve been on fybogel, buscopan and dulcolax for many years now. And I drink a pint and half of water in first hour at least on rising without fail. A game changer! And drink water all day - 3-4 litres at least a day... essential to keep things moving and due to Sjogrens issues! Nothing happens downstairs without all that - sadly I left it v late to talk about it openly and so have rectal prolapse. And umbilical hernia at 21! So - please get some more help via your gastro team as you shouldn’t be going through all this on a regular basis.. Hope you get some good outcomes.. and more help. Forgive me if you do all this already... coming from good place.. Hugs D

Hi thanks for your reply . I have 3sister with lupus I’m 66 . My 2 older sisters where diagnosed with lupus and my younger sister as well . But I haven’t got it . I use to drink lots of water 3liters a day but ended up in hospital with low blood salts . But The doctor there was only interested in getting my salts up . I asked him to refer me to gastro from there but was told had to go through gap . Any way I had a ultra sound Tuesday so hopefully it will show up something so I get answers . Waiting on gastro appointment but because of lockdown it can take months . Had all the tests and got slow transit bowel with narrowing and scar tissue owing to bowel operation and appendix out at 2 years of age . So I’m in constant pain but it only started at the beginning of lock down . So evert has taken a long time . But phoning doctor today . Thanks again .😊

Oh dear. So sorry about all. Have you any eye issues? Slow transit can be v linked to Sjogrens or scleroderma too. Do you have raynauds? Has no one suggested psyllium husks at least? Do you drink 2litres of water a day anyway? That’s essential for everyone generally. I take it you’ve had advice from a dietician? If not that sounds v much needed. Gastro recommended so expensive pro biotics but didn’t notice any improvement. I eat live yoghurt and take tons of vitamins and EPA and EPO oils, along with prescribed D3 and K2, folic acid and all other vile meds. I do hope you get some advice.. your GP along should have discussed prescribing some stool softeners and gentle laxatives to keep you going.. Sounds awful for you as had it all my life and I know the pain and damage it brings. Hope you can discuss with your gp and you get your gastro apptment pronto. Hugs, D

Yes I do have eye problems I just thought it was old age and sometimes buscopan can effect the eyes so I limit how many I take . I do take laxido and I drink yacult and gut friendly yougurts . Plus prunes but not been in the mood for prunes in awhile . . Gp put me back on tablet for the pain that helps my bowel as well . But no word from the gastro or my stool sample yet . As everthing here takes ages now . Take care 😊

So sorry didn’t get an alert you had responded. Just seen now. Do you have dry eye? And do they water all time especially when outside? Have a look at sjogrens info in web... you never know (and I hope not) it might ring bells. Take care too and hope things improve plus you get some much needed clinical support to help x
