Try to drink more water to dilute the strength and smell. It is quite normal to have strong smelling urine with IBS and/or IBD.

Thanks Freedman, I never linked this to IBS. I do have lots of water 💦. But have to limit to about 1litre or increases chances of loose motions. So as always balance

If you suffer with IBS, you should, really, drink at least two litres of water a day to keep your body hydrated.

I understand that, but I have other concerns that get affected with too much. Thank you 🙏

Yes can relate with that. In past had tests and mostly no infection.

Interstitial cystitis is a common thing for IBS sufferers - it's damage to the lining of the bladder which isn't an infection. Caffeine, citrus juice and alcohol irritate the bladder so maybe keep to water for a while - white tea has a lot less caffeine than black tea and helps if you need to wean yourself off without a stonking headache.

I have strong smelly urine often first thing in morning. I do drink plenty of water ( plus peppermint / ginger tea ) . The strong urine is due in my case, to Gilbert’s (syndrome). GP’s sometimes do not mention to patients that they have consistently higher than normal, but not extremely high bilirubin levels in blood tests ( as in my case for many years). This is because Gilbert’s quote “does not pose a threat to health and does not cause complications” - however it’s common for people with Gilbert’s to suffer IBS, and nausea. Some people never know they have Gilberts for many years like myself, and when I did know I never realised my gut problems were probably linked, until about ten years ago and only in last 5-6, come to a better understanding, as stress affects Gilbert’s too and both are related to IBS of course. You could ask your GP about your bilirubin levels in any blood tests you had in recent times if interested.
