I am a coeliac with IBS and recently diagnosed with border line BAM. I had a phone call app with a gastroenterology. I wanted to be tested for SIBO as a lot of my symptoms point to it but it was a bad line and all she was Interested in was a dexer scan. I already know l have osteo arthritis and can't take alendronic acid anyway. Tha doc admitted it was a bad line but won't see me for a another year!!!

Have you been given a bile sequestrant for your BAM?

No because it can cause ibsc which is the last thing I need. It is only border line . Diarrhea is the usual symptom but trust me to be different.

So why do you think you have SIBO. I'm not convinced personally that it exists. Please see link attached.

Long story. Just before the first lock down and before I had heard of covid I had awful IBS flair up. Once Docs had ruled out cancer they lost interest. I can understand that. So in desperation I saw a private nutritionist. She arranged a stool test that showed abnormal levels of bacteria. The Doc refused to give anti bionics so she gave me herbal ones and I almost starved myself to starve the bacteria! I lost two stone in 6 months. I am back to a better diet under a dietician but still having problems. Within 1 hour of eating so much as a sandwich my small intestines go rock hard and I end up with painfull embarrassing wind. I am oh SO tired and weak all the time. Just want to get on with my life.

Just caught sight of this post and thought it was like me when I was taking 2 X 20 mg Omeprazole. Every time I ate it would feel like I had hard big lumbs in my upper stomach Was wondering if you were. Hateful capsules. Side effects left me with IBS:C Now taking H2 Blocker when I get reflux. Much kinder. All the best

Edgar77, these links may offer a means of addressing some of your concerns and provide a platform for better health. The first link begins with an unrecognized thiamine deficiency affecting the vagus nerve connecting the brain gut axis. Several high absorption forms of thiamine are Sulbutiamine, TTFD and Benfotiamine Magnesium is a required ingredient to activate thiamine so a magnesium deficiency may also be involved in vagus nerve underperformance. Search on "krispin magnesium" for information on forms and dose calculation. Boron increases magnesium absorption and may offer relief for osteoarthritis. Check that out. The last link concerns thiamine deficiency and celiac disease. Also it's is vital to study thiamine and brain function and the importance of thiamine that is efficient in passing through the blood/brain barrier. With this background you'll be able to understand BAM better. Although B1 has been the focus, the B vitamins work better together. Always consult your health care provider befose using any supplement.

Where can you get your thiamine tested privately?

Orchid99, try searching " thiamine testing in __________" insert your location in the blank. You can request a test through your physician. Research the test it's self so you'll better understand your test results.

My gastro said that true SIBO cases are rare. It has a distinct set of causes. Unless you have one of these causes, you are unlikely to have it. If you do have one of the causes and the causes isn't treated, then it will keep coming back. I can pm you the list if that would help? You could maybe run through the list with your GP and/or a get a re-referral about it.
