Hi all. Looking for some advise. Had blood tests a couple of weeks ago and all came back fine. Some inflammation. Some days normal stool, some days loose stool but these last two days they have been cowpats. I suffer from anxiety and am concerned it’s something else but my GP thinks it’s IBS. Tried peppermint tablets that went right through me. Looking for some advise as to what I should eat and drink.
Thanks

The food you eat and drink and the poop you pass is completely random if you suffer with IBS as this is one of the major symptoms. This means that even if you decide that a particular food does not agree with you today, there is nothing to say it won't agree with you tomorrow. However, there are some foods and drinks that are definitely no good for IBS or IBD sufferers, and these are peanuts and sweetcorn as well as Brussel sprouts, together with all fizzy drinks and alcohol too.
Thanks FReedman. Problem is I’m addicted to Diet Pepsi and drink far too much. Love a beer too and I know I need to gradually reduce my intake. My problem is more with food. As you say one day it can be great and the next it’s not. Trial and error I suppose
It is weird that you should say you are addicted to Diet Pepsi as there have been studies done with Coca-Cola which have shown that it can reduce the effects of constipation and help to avoid or reduce laxatives.
I certainly think it’s probably the diet stuff! There’s some pretty bad sugar replacements in all that junk. Personally I think it should be banned. I think it’s linked to cancer in America
Diet Pepsi! that and all the coke/Dr Pepper/Acid drinks plus diet are extremely bad for your system.
When you drink acid the body reacts to an massive increase in acid levels(You have own acids which breakdown foods)to drains Vit D/Calcium from your bones to neutralise the Acid which then destabilise your bodies system and the chemicals in diet drinks inhibit you from Metabolise the nutrients back from foods as vitamins assimilated via either water or fat why they need to be in your food to absorb the vitamins
Reason why Ricketts have made a come back in parts of UK due to many living on Fizzy drinks etc!
Im glad someone else has, what I call "cowpat poo", find floating. Cowpats a result of eating something greasy or stuff like sweet and sour balls. I have diverticular as well as ibs, so for me, I also need to need a healthy diet of high fibre diets for it as my NHS sheet advises. Sprouts, courgettes, I usually have at least once a week. I stopped eating ice cream and cream cheeses long ago. But I like my ordinary cheddar in a sandwich. Everybody is different when it comes to symptoms of IBS. pain bloating and washing machine stomach are common . I suffer anxiety many years, the level of stress in any one day will affect my tummy the next day. Early morning urge is annoying for me at 5am, going back to bed, second sitting usually comes at 8am. Best of luck, I hate the bloating, very uncomfortable, buscapam usually helps me, pepermint is an irritant, I tried it once or twice and made me worse, gave me acid. Oh well, breakfast soon rice crispies does me😊
Hi I've had a lot of health anxiety with symptoms too, there are so many different ones. This forum is brilliant as there is always someone who has the same problem, it's really reassuring. Low fodmap diet has eased my symptoms alot.
Fodmaps refers to certain sugars known to trigger digestive problems, my doctor recommended I try it and it works relatively well. Just google Fodmaps, theres a whole host of information and you can download the diet plan on the NHS site too, theres even a app to record what foods help/dont help. Goodluck x
