Rectal discomfort

Hi there

In September 2019 I had bit of a stomach bug that lasted for a few days .

After that period my bowels were all over the place and I started getting bloating and discomfort around the rectum .

I had a CT colonoscopy last December that resulted with no adverse findings

My GP also carried out a digital recital exam with no findings .

The rectal discomfort subsided for six months until July then returned .

My stools are very inconsistent from soft and stringy to sometimes near normal .

I go to the loo two or three times per day .

That’s normal for me.

I always feel the urge to go , even if there’s nothing there , causing me to strain .

Can anybody help or relate to this ?

Sounds very much like IBS to me. When you say you go to the loo two or three times a day and that is normal for you, do you mean normal for you now or normal for you before this all started?

Two to three times a day is normal for me but the consistency each time is different .Never diarrhoea but soft .

I never get the urge to go just sensations of something being there .

Occasionally nothing there but sometimes a small amount .

Is this normal when ibs gets bad ?

Yes, sounds exactly like IBS I'm afraid. Everyone is different but have similarities, variations on a theme so to speak, if you get my drift.

I have very similar symptoms. I can have 3 or more a day. Sometimes I don’t get to the loo in time and always have to take spare underwear. Not good at all when out and about, especially now that very few toilets are open

I get this pressure stops me sleeping I have no idea also x
