So I ate something yesterday and passed it undigested 16 hours later. That seems very quick to me. I always thought it took over 24 hours. Anyone on here know what the typical time frame is?

Have you heard of the raw beet bowel movement test? I stumbled across it when I once had raw beets from a restaurant and had red BM after so looked into this and realised people do it to test transit time. Anything between 12-24 hrs is normal so 16 hrs sounds ok but undigested probably less so but depends on what it is as some fruit skins are not really digestable. Also depends on how well you chew your food.
Hi, I found this very interesting. I have never heard of it before and I have had IBS a very long time. I have dabbled with food colouring before to try to work out transit time, wish I had known about this then .
If you read medical textbooks the transit times can vary and be stated as up to 72 hours in some cases. However, like you, mine tends to be at the 12-16 hour end of the scale unless I'm dosed up with drugs to slow things down.
