Has anyone tried kamboucha tea and had bad side effects? I recently tried it to help re populate the good bacteria in my gut but think it may have had an adverse effect. I’ve developed dreadful cramping pains, visiting the loo more often and bad headaches.

i had same reaction when i tried the grains you ferment yourself at home. someone later said to me that it’s called die off which means bad bacteria going away or something, and that i should have persisted. for me what worked for my ibs ( which was primarily bloating daily, loose stools daily and horrible gas daily), was cutting out my trigger foods, then i started on probio7, take glutamine , take digestive enzymes when i eat food that may be a problem,, and reducing stress.
Kambouche tea does have several side effects and yes, one of them is stomach cramps. Other side effects include yeast infections such as thrush. It is supposed to cure or help with a range of health problems but it is unproven. It is one of those fermented teas and as such contains a lot of yeast.
You might be better off with Kafir the fermented milk drink. Personally, as an IBS sufferer of many years, I would touch either with a barge pole. That's my opinion of such products.
I have methane SIBO. I've tried kamboucha and kefir made on coconut water. Both don't agree with me, so it's a no from me on this stuff at least at the moment.
