I’ve had a horrible cold with bad coughing for the last few days, mostly it was chesty and dry, mucus on my chest and coughing it up...yuk!
Well now its become a tickle. Ive been coughing almost nonstop for the last 4 hours and when I get a bad coughing fit its so bad I start heaving and almost vomit. I’ve tried linctus, cought sweets, honey, chocolate caramel (I thought it might coat my throat) and water everytime I’m coughing. Nothing has really worked, i want to be able to sleep tonight without keeping everyone up but more I just dont want to vomit from it.
Any ideas??

What will help the most is you sleeping with your head up a as much as possicle get another pillow it is the only way I could get sleep otherwise the mucus goes to the back of your throat and makes you cough. Do not lie flat. Also drink water before you go to bed . It feels odd sleeping upright st first but you will fall asleep as you will be very tired anywAy. There is a drug called night nurse which may help too. Good luck.
Hi I suffer from asma and have terrible bouts of coughing but try not to use my emergency inhaler too often so I tried rubbing some vics vapour rub on the front of my throat under my chin and the top of my chest I find it helps my coughing and soothes my throat as I breathe it in I put some on before I go to bed at night too and haven’t been woken up coughing has been a lot of help to me may be worth you trying it too xxchrissyx
Hi , I've got the same kind of cough as you I've had it for a week and a half, I'm sleeping propped up and on my side I'm so fed up of coughing. I also have Ibs which seems to be more painful I think it's the extra air I'm swallowing but it's becoming trapped hence the pain. Like you I've tried throat lozengers, cough mixture glycerine and lemon sipping drinks doesn't work someone suggested pineapple juice but not how much you drink. If I drink too much fruit juice I will get diarrhoea!!! If I'm still coughing next week I think I will go to the doctors perhaps you should do the same?
