Gastroenterologist

I have a telephone appointment next week with a Gastroenterologist, at the moment I am taking 8 Paracetamol a day ( everyday) for stomach pain which goes into my back (my Doctors says it's ok.) Diarrhoea 5/6 times a day usually after lunch and onwards, Morning i am usually ok but not always, it is when i eat anything other than toast, porridge.

I fear food and I am not eating correctly as I worry about being ill. I have had cameras, stool tests, blood tests, ultrasounds ( nothing sinister). I do have Diverticular disease but the Doctor said its nothing to worry about.

My main question is will a Gastroenterologist help as I am not hopeful at all and does anyone also suffer the same symptoms.

I'm so tired of feeling ill every single day of my life.

Thanks for replies in advance

The anxiety of dealing with illness feeds on it's self, making it worse. Try not to worry about your health, impossible I know, but try none the less. I think of my health problems as they are what they are, I can't change them, just deal with them. No, it doesn't work for me either but what else can you do. Worry and make it far worse. I resign myself to the fact I am taking every option I can to manage my health, what follows I can't stop. But I can get on with life and try to enjoy what I have. Keeping the mind active helps me to forget the problems, sadly I can't be active 24/7 but I maximise it as much as I can.

Have you had your gallbladder out? If so, maybe ask about bile acid malasorbtion.

If you still have a gallbladder, i would ask the gp to refer you to a dietion to try the low fodmap diet, helps 70% of ibs D cases, completely changed my life :)

Good luck with your appointment! x

You might be better to use antispasmodics than a high dose of paracetomal every day.

Do some research on Mastic Gum. It certainly helped me when I had stomach problems. x

I often take buscopan for my stomach pain! I had it so bad the other day that I collapsed on the garden floor! I took a couple of them and it definitely eased the pain. I have seen a Gastroentologist and he was very helpful and recommended that I follow the FODMAP diet to ease my symptoms. It’s so boring however it has eased them! (Apart from when I occasionally eat different foods and then I feel awful again :( ) hang in there! It will get better x

I suffer with some of your symptoms. I do feel for you. I would be really interested to hear the outcome of your gaestro appointment as that maybe be my next option.

I go between soft stools and constipation and am desperately trying to put on weight. Fybogel helped for a few months now trying to manage without any pills.

I have had ultrasounds and ct scans blood tests and thankfully all clear. Stool sample months ago clear too.

Anxiety is a big part of it all for me so trying to manage that

Good luck and take care.

Thanks, i will update after ive seen the Gastroenterologist

Hello everyone, lately my health has only gotten worse. I think it's all because of my incorrect lifestyle, which I led before. Now I am 25 and have serious stomach and heart problems. I often eat the wrong food and overuse coffee. Due to my work, I do not have time to eat properly and mainly buy burgers and coffee at McDonald's. Last year I weighed 76 kilograms, and now over 90. I decided to turn to alliedgidoc.com/gastroenter... to solve my stomach problems. I understand that now I inflict enormous damage on my body and when I get older it will be even worse for me. Some of you have tips on how to deal with these problems?
