feeling sorry for myself

had a bad day yesterday, went to work with pain in my stomach but coped. Came home at lunchtime but by the afternoon was feeling miserable, ended up with slight D. so stayed near the toilet. Luckily I had rehydration sachets in as i tend to quickly feel faint.

I normally suffer from the C.side of IBS

This morning very delicate.

I have the day off work and had planned to go out. But at the moment need to be near the bathroom just in case.

Feeling very sorry for myself and need a good cry.

I really feel for you. I suffer terribly with ab pain each day, never know from one day to the next ,can't plan anything cos of pain. I also have IBS C mainly,I've been taking simethecone (windeze)after meals and that helps, also try milk of magnesia if you get constipated it softens the stool which eases painful cramps.don't take too much though as it can cause crampy diarhorrea.Ask you doctor for an anti spasmodic, I take alverine citrate, mainlybefore bedtime as it stops the cramps which disturb my sleep. I hope this helps, have a good cry if you feel like,it will help de stress you, I know I do

It sounds to me as if you haven't got proper diet control over your IBS. Check your diet against the low Fodmaps diet sheet. I expect you already know not to drink anything fizzy, alcohol, anything onion or garlic related and processed food.

If you already abide by that diet then I would suggest you try excluding things from your diet one at a time to see if you have intolerances. I am dairy/lactose, yeast, soya and sunflower oil intolerant and highly sensitive to dextrose. It's very difficult sometimes working your life around IBS and eating safely. Avoiding things like dextrose which us in almost everything, lactose, yeast and sunflower oil also in a lot if things is hard. I'm not suggesting you are intolerant to any of those foods but it's certainly worth an exclusion diet for a few weeks. Anything is worth a try if it avoids bad days. I can sometimes tolerate red meat but only once a week. I find anything greasy or fatty can be problematic too.

You are 100% right that i have not got a diet control over my IBS I am going to look at seeing a dietitian.

The FODMAP diet is very restrictive and from what a gastroenterologist told me not something to be on for any length of time. I think a dietician would be very helpful..
