Bone broth and AIP?

Hi all

My mom has IBS like me but she still has symptoms and wants to improve her symptoms. Shes on medication but thats not really working.

I eased my symptoms massively by doing the AIP (Autoimmune paleo) diet for 8 weeks and then going paleo.

On the AIP you have to have bone broth everyday but mom has tried both chicken and beef broth but hates both she saids its not for her.

She said could she just go paleo instead and i said yes but broth helps yoyr digestive system and can help restore the gut.

My mom wanted me to ask other suffers if they agree she should be having bone broth or if she can just improve her diet instead.

I have heard that bone broth is the best but there is a tasteless powder called bovine collagen she can put in a drink/smoothie :)

I’m going to look up AIP I have horrid ibs from meds and stress and autoimmune issues. Does she like ginger ? I bought a chicken one with ginger maybe she’d like that. Bone broth has amino acids helps with hormones neurotransmitters adding collagen helps with connective tissue. I ad colleges into my powder bone broth. I drink it instead of coffee due to reflux gastritis & ibs. If she really hates it I’d say let her skip that. Maybe try collagen in her coffee it’s tasteless just weird texture she’s have to get used too.

Not sure you need bone broth for AIP. For gut repair, the broth would be helpful but alternatively bone broth supplements or collagen supplements. I do AIP and love BB.

What is it about bone broth that helps heal the gut?

It contains collagen which has specific amino acids/proteins.

So its the collagen that helps the gut

Yes effectively (or more accurately the proteins it contains).
