Hello, this is quite a specific question...
I've had IBS-c for years but in 2017 was also diagnosed with gastritis. They also found a hiatus hernia last year and prescribed Omeprazole 20mcg. I've tried taking it but get horrible cramping and nausea.
But I want to try again to give my stomach a chance to heal and to follow a strict diet in an attempt to improve things. The GP prescribed me Pantoprazole 40mcg today but I'm having a scan on Wednesday as I have kidney pains and suspected stones. The leaflet says not to take the Pantoprazole if you have kidney problems. Apparently PPIs are best a avoided altogether with kidney issues.
I really need to take something for the gastritis and reflux. Any suggestions? The surgery is closed for the weekend and to be honest my GP is really unpleasant to deal with so I'd rather not see him if possible! Do I chance the PPIs short term or try a pack of Ranitidine I have? There are only 2 weeks worth though.
I'm 44 and don't drink, smoke etc...
Thanks 🤞
