Need a little bit of help/advice

Hi,

New here, so hopefully this post is correct? I moved to Vietnam 2 years ago, whilst over there, I’m very careful in what I eat & where I eat but I have diarrhoea/loose bowl movements at least once a week. I came to the UK for Xmas for 2 weeks (I’m still here) & I still had diarrhoea, I had it on Friday the 27th, Thursday 2nd and today Saturday the 4th.

I don’t have bad stomach cramps or pains, but I know when I need to go to the toilet, I don’t have explosive diarrhoea and when I go to the toilet, my first stool/s feel normal then they came straight after one other and they are usual small and watery. After I’ve had diarrhoea, I normally would take some 2 Imodium tablets and I don’t have nothing to eat for 24 hours, I would then try and eat bland foods, I’ve lost about 10lbs in weight over 2 years

I saw my doc on Friday the 27th & he booked me in to have a blood test that same day and gave me a FIT test to do, the results came back on Thursday the 2nd and they were all clear/negative (thank god) for serious illnesses (cancer, parasites, etc). My doc then mentioned about IBS and he mentioned about stripping back my diet/food intake and to manually see what could be triggering my diarrhoea. Whilst in the UK, i googled foods that might trigger IBS, so I haven’t had any dairy products and anything with fibre, and I haven’t had cauliflower, broccoli or cabbage, is that wise?

My doc also mentioned about seeing a GASTROENTEROLOGIST but that would take 6 weeks, I go back to Vietnam next week, so I can’t see one here in the UK. He gave me all of my results and mentioned about seeing a GASTROENTEROLOGIST in Vietnam, which I’m intending on doing, the healthcare is quite good in Vietnam.

Is there anything else I could avoid eating that may trigger my diarrhoea/stomach problems? I don’t get very stressed out often, but I do sometimes have paranoia, where I first think of negative things, (for example my symptoms) I first googled stomach cancer symptoms.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Avoid alcohol and all fizzy drinks, also peanuts, sweetcorn, Brussel sprouts and baked beans. Look online at the Fodmap diet and see a dietician to see if this will help you.

What’s the best way to see a dietitian? and thank you for your swift reply.

I don't know about Vietnam, but there is a waiting list over here, and you get referred by your GI team or Gastro-enterologist.

Hi,

I see you sometimes get paranoid, that can exacerbate IBS.

On the food front I cannot eat raw carrots and hardly any fruit so I steer clear from these. Have you googled High Fodmap foods? Have a look at the Monash Fodmap, the University was the creator of the Fodmap diet and this would be a very good place to see what foods can exacerbate IBS. A couple of common ones are onions and garlic.

I'm seeing a Nutritionist here in the UK on Tuesday to look at going on the Fodmap diet.

All the very best and I hope it gets better very soon.
