The doctor put me on Omeprazole, it has really upset my stomach and bowels, felt sick, change in taste, going to the loo more. Stopped taking them but my bowels are still not right, stomach cramps and still going to the loo more.
Anybody else had this trouble? Xxx

I have been on Omeprazole for the best part of 20 years, and never had any problems, but I have heard of reactions to them. If you let your prescribing doctor know about the problems they should be able to help re side effects etc.
Thanks for reply,I have been to the doctors and he just wouldn’t believe me, said leave it see how you go. so I now have an appointment with my doctor on Monday who prescribed them. It’s funny all the symptoms disappeared except my bowels since stopping them but they have really messed them up.
Yes!!!! I have been taking Omeprazole for gastritis for around four months ... since starting it I have had terrible bowels. Trouble was it eases my heartburn so doctor said to continue. I am now starting to try to ween myself off them as the constant bowel pain and needing the loo with Diarrhea has become too much to cope with. Just hoping the heartburn doesn’t return!! These tablets can most definitely cause tummy trouble. I am going to try to get by using gaviscon when needed now! Gaviscon advance liquid is a really good alternative ( depending on how severe your symptoms are obviously) maybe try this after all meals
I stopped taking it but agree it eased heartburn but played havoc with my stomach. I stopped taking it and just getting back on track, one of the odd things is it said it can cause changes in your taste, which is another symptom I had, everything tasted sweet or bitter. I read it takes 72 hours to get out your system. Seeing my own Doctor on Monday will ask about a alternative, I take Octasa (Asacol) and it says don’t take indigestion medication two hours before and after. X
Hopefully your doctor can listen a bit better and give you something alternative to help your symptoms! I’m really hoping that I can come off these too and not have too bad symptoms! Wish me luck! 😊
Gm all, I was on naproxen as I have lumbar spine problems, so I was on omeprazole, because of my IBS I'm taking also buscopan, peppermint capsules, someone told me about charcoal tablets, now I'm so nauseated. Waking up feeling really nauseas and confused. I can't even get appt with my GP to discuss how I'm feeling.
Omeprazole oral capsule is used to reduce the amount of acid in your stomach. It is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions caused by excess stomach acid.
Hi there! I just started taking omeprazole 40 mg because of ulcers and acid reflux. For me, I noticed that it definitely helped the acid but not sure about the ulcers. I've noticed that I do have more gas and bloating but not sure if I had it because I'm also taking penicillin as well. Feel better!
