Constipation... Need advice

A couple of weeks ago i had bowel inpaction, i was prescribed laxido and i had an appointment with my GP on friday passed and it was confirmed that the build up had gone.

I was taken of laxido and prescribed 20ml lactulouse morning and night, and also 5mg dulcolax at bedtime longterm

My problem being i havent had a bowel movement in 4 days.. I feel like i need to go but i just cant go.. Has anyone any advice on what might help. I dont want to keep annoying my GP about this.

This is a three day plan, on day one, with your meals, drink two cans of Coca-Cola (so-one with lunch and one with evening meal), on day two, do exactly the same. On day three drink one can of Coca-Cola early afternoon. At all times the Coca-Cola should be fizzy (the fizzier the better).

I don't know why this works, but it seems to, (something to do with the fizziness and acid in Coca-Cola), I don't know if it works with other brands of cola. By the end of day 3, you should be able to open your bowels, although you may still be constipated. If this works continue with one can per day, for up to one week and then revert to one can every other day.

Hi. I used to take lactolose and dulcalax and I do think your body gets used to them at times. You do have to drink a lot of fluids too or it can make you feel more bloated I find. I am now taking macrogol twice a day and it helps a lot . You can take 8 a day for 2 days if you get impaction again. Hopefully you won't though. It's horrible huh.

Hi. I have IBS also and I can go 7 to 10 days without going. I take dulcolax on a night up to 4 tablets when constipated and that seems to clear my bowels. I don't take them every night as I don't want to be dependent on them. I hope this helps you.
