After 8 months of tummy troubles I'm finally having a colonscopy tomorrow morning at 8am. I'm petrified of the prep I have to do as it's taken me months to overcome anxieties of ibs d and now I have to do it to myself! So I've read the Instructions and have spoken to a few friends that have had it. My main qustio is why do I need to wait until 5pm to start? I'm home all day as instructed by the specialist... One friend has had a few and starts it around 12pm so it's all done before bed time so they can actually get some sleep. Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated. I'm having kittens here!

If you take the prep too early, and it empties your bowels, you then produce more pooh, from things like milk and other liquids that get transferred by the body into solid waste, and they can't see what they want to see clearly, you have wasted their time , your time and however much money the test has cost. I am sorry to put the point so bluntly, but there it is. All I can say is there is normally a good reason for the times they give you to stop eating and start prepping.
Thanks All. I started the prep at midday so I was done by the time everyone else got home from work! Pleased to say my results were clear and the doc said the prep had done an extremely good job so glad i started it earlier as i managed to get a few hours sleep.
