Has anyone used setraline for IBS constipation... - IBS Network
Has anyone used setraline for IBS constipation and did it help or make it worse.
I have been on Sertraline for a year and can't sing its praises enough!!! Take it for goodness sake, I have been reborn since taking it and my IBS which I had for nearly ten years has gone!!
I can hardly believe it when I walk straight past the imodium shelves at Tesco, feel like doing a skip and a jump everytime I go straight past!! 😁
Hi Melody
I was given Sertraline about a month ago for anxiety about IBS C and I took it for 12 days but felt sickj, lost my appetite and had hot flushes so I stopped. I think it did make me feel a bit less anxious but the side effects weren't worth it. I think it may have slightly helped my IBS C so it's worth giving it a go. Also I didn't take the whole pill, I only took half (cut it in two) because I react badly to medication and wanted to go slowly. I think deep breathing and meditation are much more helpful and also the right diet for you. Good luck - IBS C is so miserable and intractable I know - but I do believe it's possible to get better - especially after a good day! Good luck
We suggest speaking to your pharmacist.
Makes me sleepy...helps my ibs-c tho... its nicer not to be on it if you can help it.... its another complication ya know... but their are benifits and risks to weigh up. Imo its worth trying for 6 months just to know what it does to you.
I took it for a month, felt okay at first but then gradually felt worse. No energy, listless, felt like a zombie and it didn't help my IBS. Made the runs worse. Stopped taking it.
