Kefir
Yes I make it - although never diagnosed with ibs I do get bloating.
It’s easy to make and worth trying. It seems to help me.
Thank you for your reply am definitely going to give it a go. Take care
Hi Lally
Please share the recipe - would be good to try this at home.
When I look at the prices of probiotics it's all crazy expensive. I want to try this but not blow the grocery budget!
You have to buy the grains (about£5) and then you just put them in a jar with some milk. You leave them in a cool dark place (my wardrobe) for a between 24 and 48 hours. It get stronger, thicker and a bit sourer the longer it’s left. You then strain it, isolate the grains and add them to more milk.
The remaining “milk” is now kefir.
You can slow down the process by leaving the milk/grain mix in the fridge.
Google kefir and lots of info and sources of grains will appear.
Good luck
PS. I always make sure everything is clean and “scalded” I.e pour boiling water over containers and any utensils etc
What is kefir?
It’s a probiotic milky drink a bit like yogurt with reputedly more good gut bacteria. It can help with gut issues but no guarantees.
It’s available in the milk section of most supermarkets.
