Yes. I have IBS and diveryicular disease. My back aches and I have pains in my left side/hip. I have had it for 16 years now wuth no cure.

I asked my dr if my backache could be related to my Ibs or diverticula disease & she said no it couldn’t possibly be!!!! Now I’ve read other peoples replies to you I think she must be wrong!!! Ermmmm!!🤔

I always thought it could cause back pain due to your intestines flaring up. There is nothing behind your intestines so it’s near your back! Kinda like how you can get back pain when you get your period.

Actually if one suffers from chronic constipation, backed up stool can press on the vagus nerve and cause low back ache and or sharp pain. After having bowel movements it can go away.

I sometimes get really bad back pain when I have a flare up. When I saw a GP about it, she thought it might be wear and tear of my spine.

Did she order x-rays or MRI to rule out herniated disks, ruptured disks or scoliosis/sciatica? ☺x

No she didn't. I hadn't thought of that. Next time I go to the surgery I will raise it. Thank you. I have more or less permanent back pain in varying degrees, and tend to just put up with it.

The body sure is very complex!!

Yes, I get terrible back ache and left side hip pain when having a flare up. Also really bad pelvis pressure pain. Doctor claims not related but reading these comments the doctor does not know!

Thankyou all for your comments ,with all you are saying i think there must be a connection with our back pain ,as i seems a very common factor to a lot of us with IBS and diverticler problems ,which is reassuring in some ways ,but doesnt help us with the pain ,any tips on easing the pain without strong pain killers that aggravate my bowels even more ,It does help to share as my GP is not much help .Kindest wishes to all fellow sufferers

Yes, I get lower back pain and burning sensation. I suffer from chronic and severe constipation and am unable to have a bowel movement (unless it's very strong black instant coffee with Stevia sweetener). I have to take a weekly laxative..Senna and after a few bowel movements the pain finally goes away. I also have severe degenerative back disease. Ruptured and herniated disks, scoliosis and none spurs. I was on prescribed pain meds for seven years but went off cold turkey as they are notorious for causing constipation. But sadly if the pain keeps me up am forced to take Naproxen 500 and Flexerill muscle relaxer..also very constipating. Seems like I can't win. Are you under the care of a gastroenterologist, pain management specialist (I was also getting epidural injections) or chiropractor? Hope you feel better soon..☺

If I overdo it and hurt my back my ibs will flare up the next day.Whether it's because your lower back muscles become inflamed and irritates the bowels that way I'm not sure 🤔.
