I have had IBS for years, lately when I eat I get a belly ache, it moves down my body, sometimes it goes away and sometimes it hangs around. I normally get up from bed with no pains but once I start to eat the pains come back. I did start eating beetroot with my meals and wondered if that might have made my body a bit sensitive?
Belly ache: I have had IBS for years, lately... - IBS Network
Belly ache
Do you mean cooked ordinary boiled beetroot or the kind which is pickled in vinegar?
If it's the pickled one, then vinegar can be too acidic for many tummies. I never really liked it and stay away from it now, quite happily. Though I tried apple cider vinegar at one point, and didn't like that either, plus it didn't do me any good.
Beetroot is so healthy and good to eat, and some people can eat it regularly. I used to.
But it's very high fibre. I usually reserve it for any "more slightly constipated" days. I love it actually so am always pleased when I can eat it. But generally...nope.
Maybe it's that?
It is just the straight cooked beet, I left it off today and the belly seems slightly better. Thanks for coming back to me.
Another old timer here. I love beetroot too, (not pickled) but have to limit consumption because it 'goes straight through', sometimes very rapidly. I only eat it occasionally, but it often prompts a bm within a few hours.
I have a belly ache with too much fibre.I have a small amount of unpickled beetroot most days.
I find pips in tomatoes are are a problem for me so can't eat more than a very small amount.
If it's one thing I've found over the years it's that the symptoms change and can be varied, I too get this sometimes I think it's just my tummy feeling sore and sensitive after a flare up and digesting food can be uncomfortable for a day or two after I have found tummy massage quite useful, does this happen with every meal for you or just after a bout of IBS?
What do you eat in a typical day?
I normally have toast to start. Then maybe a pork pie and a couple of cakes for lunch and various things for the evening meal. After eating over the last week I get a belly ache ( not stomach) it seems to slowly creep down lower and then maybe I pass wind. I have had quite a lot of wind over the last week or so. I have to take Cosmocol to keep things moving while I wait for this inguinal hernia to be fixed. If it is wind then where the hell is it all coming from? I have always had lots of wind but not the pain with it. I usually wake up fine having passed wind a lot during the night but as soon as I eat then the pains come on. Obviously before the food has had a chance to digest and get into my intestines.
I have been very anxious of late.
Could it be the fat in the pork pie
Details, details, details...
What are those "various things" for the evening meal?
Toast is not food. Why? Because wheat and all grains are not food. Humans struggle to digest grains; so forget all this nonsense about needing "healthy whole grains" because they're not healthy.
We're made out of what we eat and drink. What is your body going to do with toast? Any protein in there? Not really. Fat? Nope. Vitamins? Minerals? *begin laughing here*
We pass wind when we struggle to digest food; or I should say "food" or fake food.
The toast (wheat) and cakes (wheat and sugar) are causing the wind. You don't need Cosmocol or fibre to keep things moving; you need fat. I haven't eaten fibre in years and I don't pass wind or have any problems going, because I eat nothing but fatty meat and drink only water.
Why do children hate almost all vegetables? Because their tongues have more taste-buds than adults, and vegetables taste really bitter. If something tastes bitter, isn't that telling us not to eat it?
You have IBS because of your diet. The medical community thinks that IBS and other diseases are a great mystery that needs research, research, and more research (oh, and more funding).
Eat fatty meat (beef is the #1 choice) and drink water. The IBS will disappear because digesting meat is effortless. Fat (tallow, lard, butter, coconut oil) will keep you regular. Saying goodbye to bread and cakes and pastry is simple but not easy. Fat isn't bad; cholesterol isn't bad (the liver makes it after all).
Your body has been complaining for a long time. I'll tell you what I tell vegans and vegetarians: stop denying your body what it needs to be healthy: Meat heals. Eat meat.
If everyone (and I do mean everyone) on this site ate nothing but fatty meat and drank water; at the very least, they would see a dramatic improvement; and at best be completely cured.
