Hi the worst thing about my ibs is not the "baloon stomach" but the sticky stool. It is so annoying, I have to put my finger in first and then wash and wipe several times. I take medication for slowing my bowels movements down , and it can work for like a week. Then the sticky stool problem starts to come again. I feel really disqusted by myself for having to put a finger there...any recommendations ?
Sticky stool problem. : Hi :) the worst thing... - IBS Network
Sticky stool problem.
*the substance I take is called Loperamid
Hi,
I used to have this, but it was only when I was taking that awful laxative Miralax, that smells like glue. It forms kind of a gel residue on your stools. Stopped using it in about a week..just made me cramp badly and yucky stools. Then when I went to a fiber supplement that was called Citrucel that supposed to have fiber in it to bulk up stool..but didn't work..left a gel like residue from powder in my class and on stools. That didn't last long either. I'm now on Senna..take it every before bed on Saturday and I am done "going" till Subday early afternoon. I can't go on my own due to weak pelvic floor. About sticking your finger in? Your anus? Please try not to do this, because it can lead to a painful anal fissure. Is there a reason you are using your finger? Are you constipated and trying to get stool out? Are you under the care of a gastroenterologist, or Colon and Rectal Specialist? Any testing such as food intolerance or Colon screening? Have you talked to a gastro about the sticky stool? Mine are sometimes black and tarry, but that's only if I eat chocolate. Fortunately, all tests came back okay. I would Definately recommend a visit to a gastro and Colonoscopy but please try not to use your finger. Ouch! x
Have your doctor prescribe any of these 3 meds: Welchol, Colestipol, or Questran. These all will stop this for you, I'm sure!
@sweetsusie those are cholesterol meds.
Hi, have you considered if this be bile salt malabsorption? Also a strict low fodmap diet is a God send! Fybogel? Psyllium husk? Maybe discuss these things with your gp and find a great functional medicine practitioner
Yep, sadly , it takes 6 weeks to even get to the general doctors appointment here in Southern Sweden . (In northern Sweden it takes maximum a week to get an appointment )
I have that too!
