3 weeks ago I was given 4mg of midazolam and 50mg of pethidine. I still keep having weird ‘i’m gonna faint’ feelings. Is this normal?

I went for an upper gastroscopy on the 13th May. For the rest of the week I felt awful and REALLY faint/not with it. I am of a very small frame and that was a lot to give me..... he said this was normal.

But now 3 weeks later, the feelings have definitely improved but i’m STILL getting episodes of ‘shit i’m going to faint’. And i’m thinking it can’t possibly be this still? I have not felt right since and also experienced probably the worst depression of my life.

Am I going mad?

Hi DeeDee, I was also depressed after being given a sedative. It think it is more for the doctor's benefit than the patient! It sounds like pre-syncope, (almost fainting) for which you should go to see your doctor again. Good luck. Stuart
