Hi everyone, my IBS is flaring up and I am having some more symptoms, went to the GP and she said that it could be Candida overgrowth but didn't prescribe me anything! She told me to treat with over the counter medications for now and come back if it's still there
Any of you had good experience with supplements against Candida?

In 2017, I had THREE intestinal Candida overgrowth, one 'other mould' overgrowth. I have been clean since December 2017 but, found out 2 weeks ago - as I realised some symptoms were coming back - I have another ' other mould' or fungal intestinal overgrowth. No one can tell me why this has happened as I eat no sugar, no milk (allergic), eat healthy food, no yeast bread (only sourdough) etc etc ANYWAY, over the counter meds will NOT get rid of it nor will only tiny adjustments to diet. You need to have a faeces test - here, in the Netherlands, there are a few places which carry this out but you still need a doctor's prescription/referral. You don't get other types of Candida overgrowth - such as thrush etc at the same time (or, at least, I didn't). Everyone has fungus/Candida in their bodies, but when it takes over the good bacteria, that's when you get problems. So, you need to be tested - don't know how you get this done in the UK if that's where you're based. THEN, you need antifungal tablets which are only available on prescription - during the course it's no sugar, no alcohol, no yeast - you can have only very low sugar fruits - such as lemon (you learn to like it and only tiny portions of other lower sugar content fruits) - check veggies too - all this nutritional info is easy to find. Depending on how bad the overgrowth is, you may be on tablets for 2 weeks (you feel quite cr*ppy at times!) on, two weeks off, and two weeks on. OR it may just be 2 weeks. Hope that helps.
Hi I read your posts with interest, I live in the UK, I went privately to have two lots of stool tests done, both came back with high Candida, but both Gastroenterologists I have seen would not take any notice of the results and didn’t recognise high Candida in stool as a problem. I hope they do catch on to it here, as I’v tried so many supplements & diets, spent a fortune but nothing works. Please let me know how you get on getting meds for it 🤗
