I'm sorry you've joined the list of sufferers. Try and stay positive. What I found has helped (and I have had it for 20+ yrs) is track what triggers it - ie which foods. Take up yoga or 10 minutes of meditation daily. You have to learn breathing techniques to get you through it - for those times when you feel like you are going to be sick and you are stuck in a meeting, in traffic or miles from a washroom. Its as much a mental challenge - the ability to calm your mind and to try and breathe through it. My life motto became - just breathe. A probiotic helped me - what you might call remission! That lasted about 10 years - now something new has emerged so I am back to investigating foods and their reactions. Good luck and don't get overwhelmed by it; always talk to a friend, family member or doctor when/if things become too much to handle on your own.
Search out low fodmap diet recipe books. I’ve been 4 yrs after diagnoses and have found low fodmap diet helps a lot. It doesn’t cure I still have major flare ups but if you keep a food diary and daily symptoms you’ll learn to manage it better.
