I have IBS diarrhoea type. It often flares up around the time my period starts too.
I have really nasty pains in my tummy which then get worse and worse and then the diarrhoea kicks in too. Often hits early hours of the morning and then I end up in the bathroom for hours till it finally stops which by that time is often stupid o clock in the morning or even 7am or later. The tummy pains are often so bad I'm doubled over crying.
I also have severe OCD so often the two feed off each other. When I'm having a bad OCD day which is lately almost all the time it makes me stressed and anxious which often triggers off the IBS.
I so understand. I dread the monthly visit from Auntie Flow. Over the last few years it seens worst. My constipation gets worst as does bloating. Sometimes i have 'go on a starving diet' for a few days if i want to minimize the grief and yet that means i just feel more weak and fatugued... can't win some months.
I agree with this. I also could spend at least half a day on the loo. Pre menstrual difficult too as bowel stimulated. I wonder what the answer is.? I took 2 Imodium today but still felt ill with my period upset. Have you ever been given advice about what helps or do you have to endure it?
Honestly I just endure it I try to come off my pill when I have 4-5 days with no college so all the upsets get out of the way ( well most of them anyways)
Have you ever been tested for endometriosis? You might be a bit young for this but it can cause adhesions to form on bowel causing pain, bloating and stool changes. Symptoms will be worse during periods. I think it unlikely you have this but perhaps worth ruling in or out since it is treatable. Ps only an internal ultrasound or an op can test for it.
It’s never been mentioned before if it continues to give me really bad problem I will defo mention it the only problem with the internal ultrasound (correct if I wrong but that’s incerted into your vagina? Am I right?) I’m very nervy about doing stuff like that touching is a major issue but I guess what has to be done has to be done right? X
Hi there. Basically to check for endometriosis an internal probe is inserted through the vagina into the womb. It is not painful, feels a bit weird and the nurses who did mine were as polite and professional as possible but it is still embarrassing. After 15 years of going undiagnosed mine was only discovered by chance and having it treated has resolved so so much of my pain and discomfort and period issues that I thought it worth mentioning even if the chances of you having it are low. I don't think that it is a well known enough illness and i was first ruled out having it in about 2005 because they did an external not an internal scan. This is no good as the illness can hide underneath skin and belly fat!
