My name is Domonique, I'm from Arizona, and I've had GI problems since 2012. I was initially diagnosed with Gastroparesis, but that was a misdiagnosis and then was told I have IBS. I'm constipation-dominant and after all these years I haven't been able to consistently find a routine that helps my constipation. I'm a medical marijuana patient, have a zofran Rx, take prilosec for heart burn, take probiotics, and right now the only thing I'm talking for constipation is Emergen-C, because my medical marijuana dr recommended it because vitamin C helps move the bowels. I've been scrolling through the message board and saw liquid magnesium helps for constipation? I hope this will be a place where I can learn new information about managing my symptoms, and also helping others with the knowledge I've advocated accumulated over the years.

Something that has helped me with heartburn and constipation is or are digestive enzymes. I take two with larger meals and one with smaller. I was able to get off Prilosec and need a very occasional Zantac. I use Pure Encapsulation brand and get them on Amazon. There are many brands and your local Co-op probably has them.
I also take a magnesium capsule at night same brand. I don’t think that has helped me get regular like the enzymes.
Hi I just saw your post about magnesium. See my reply as well. Not sure what type of magnesium you take but it has to be citrate or oxide for constipation. It also has to be at a higher amount and on an empty stomach. This has been the best thing for me after years of suffering. Look at my post and look up the magnesium products I mentioned. For digestive enzymes alone did not help. I have tried quite a few and expensive ones.
I've been looking up magnesium citrate and I'm going to buy some asap. Thank you for all the info, I really appreciate it. I didn't know it had to be taken on an empty stomach. I'm hoping for the best, but actually optimistic about it working.😁
The reason it should be taken on an empty stomach is so it can draw water easier into the bowel and it doesn’t mix with food where the effect is not the same. You should also drink lots of water when taking it.
I have chronic constipation. The best natural thing to take is Magnesium. What I take is about 600 to 1000mg of magnesium citrate or oxide on an empty stomach before bed with lots of water. This works great, naturally and is effective. My colorectal consultant recommended it as well. Look up information on magnesium and constipation. If I don't take it I don't go.
There are other magnesium products for the colon that are excellent although more expensive but worth it. They are in order of my preference, Oxypowder, Aerobic Mag07 and Colosan. You can get them on Amazon. They are excellent. Such a relief with no bloating, cramps or pain. Hope this helps.
