Advice for weight

Hello all. I have been trying for years to put on weight. I can lose weight in seconds and I am killing myself to put a few pounds. I also suffer from IBS and eating whatever I want is not an option. I also take protein shakes but I can drink everyday due to my IBS. Any advice?

Hi, I'm curious about your condition, if you don't mind me asking, what happens if you eat fats ? e.g. butter, milk, salmon, avocados, nuts, olive oil, coconut oil.

I can eat all of the above mentioned and I do specially salmon and avocados apart from milk that one has to be delact.

I have chronic constipation, fiber usually does not do a lot for many people or fats. I am trying to get a good digestive enzyme, because my Gastro won't prescribe it. Sometimes we become thin, because our bodies don't digest proteins, fats, carbohydrates properly anymore..so maybe digestive enzyme would help..

U mentioned that u take protein shakes, why not try a mass gainer. Isopure do a lactose free product, just stay away from strawberry flavour it’s horrible🤢.

Also try a good digestive enzyme, that helps our bodies break up and digest proteins, fats, carbohydrates, etc better, sometimes our bodies are not getting the nutrients it needs due to chronic IBS. "CB-1 weight gain" is good too.

"CB-1 weight gain" is good too. Just gained two pounds in one week from it, also got on good digestive enzyme.

Hi, I can relate. Since having IBS, now chronic, severe IBS-C. I have lost 90 lbs. I look emaciated, like someone from a concentration camp. I too, take shakes, either "Ensure" or "Boost" however, they are expensive and I am on disability income. Insurance won't pay for nutrition or weight gain supplements unless I am on feeding tube. 😳😕. I have been working with dietician for about two months now, and have managed to go from 119lbs to 125.6 lbs, still too thin, but at least I am not losing weight anymore, it may be because of the Seroquel I was just put on for insomnia and anxiety. I have recently been prescribed Folic acid and B12 shots for anemia (probably from bleeding from hemmorhoids)..and I don't bleed that much more, I guess because I have been taking Colace stool softener, which helps, but does not produce enough so still have to stay on Senna-lax. (unfortunately). I have recently started on the carnation powder. But I think it is when I saw an ad for CB-1 weight gainer, in one week of being on it, I have put on 2 lbs. You can review it on their website or Google. Are you very underweight?

114 lbs and my height is 5.8 so you can understand that I look something out of a concentration camp as well. I also go to the gym about 3 times a week not that I’m obsessed with my weight I just don’t won’t to come straight home from work and feel that my whole day is about work. Gym also helps me with my panic attacks. But I lost a lot of weight over the summer and I cannot manage since to put it back.

Hey Steph something else 2 keep in mind, try 2 keep gym sessions short, because if your burning more than your taking in your on a calorie deficit. Anyone will lose weight like that. 💪

Are you seeing a dietician or nutritionist? Are you able to eat three meals a day? Are you on any prescribed medications that may cause weight loss as a side effect? I was put on Topamax, by my Psychiatrist. Little did I know this is also prescribed for weight loss, which She should have seen me lose tons of weight, yet she still prescribed it..😞

I’m so sorry, I don’t get doctors who do not know what they are doing. No I don’t take any medication on a daily basis. I sometimes take a Xanax when I’m way off the charts. Other than that no I can’t eat 3 meals a day. I usually eat 2 and a couple of other things within the day, usually chocolates.

Wow..5'8 and not much weight. Some Doctor, or Doctors should be helping you, getting you stabilized. Doctors who don't help you try to gain weight..don't know what they are doing either, which is why I recommended nutritionist. Can you eat smaller maybe 6 a day..try to get some fats, protein, smoothies, veg, carbs..there is no shame in taking anxiety meds if you feel anxious. It might also help you eat more. Magnesium citrate or Glycinate (no more than 320mg a day for women..powder or capsules) is a natural anxiety treatment and a mineral many of us is short on. It is safe and can be taken every day. Don't be afraid to ask what you want..Doctor's don't really care..they are busy and rushed for time. Have to ask what you want. Luckily my psych Doc. got her act together and I'm on a pretty good medication cocktail now. 👍☺. It's nice to not have anxiety, fear, stress, etc every day..no fun "white knuckling" it, no weakness in taking needed medication. Like a diabetic needing insulin..you may have chemical imbalance, good to get checked. Well, whatever you feel you need to do. Take care of yourself and have a great week. I'm getting ready to go out of town, so can't get back on here. Nice talking to you, and feel better soon.

Maybe skip the gym for a while and just try short walks around your neighborhood, walking will also help with panic and anxiety. Are you on any meds for anxiety? I take Klonopin, Busphar and Seroquel.
