Swollen Rib?

My left ribs become swollen and protruding 3 years ago, I have had frequent visits to the doctors where they blame it on my IBS. It's uncomfortable to sit down, standing or lying down is preferable and not helpful when you have an office job. Does anyone else suffer with this? How are people treating this, does it get better? My ribs have been permanently swollen now for 3 years, do people see a reduction in the swelling? I was diagnosed with "IBS" 7 years ago, I am now considering paying lots of money to see a private gastroenerologist as my GP is not helping

I am sorry but I have not experienced swollen ribs with IBS but anything is possible with this condition. That said what tests did you have to confirm the IBS diagnosis?

If you did not have a colonoscopy/endoscope I suggest you go ahead with a private Gastro he/she will sort you out. Good luck

Your doctor is a publc servant - ask to be referred to a gastoentrologist. "Swollen ribs" cannot be ignored. Good luck.

Please go and get a full blood count done, the swelling under your left rib is where your spleen is. My wife has recently had her spleen ruptured due to it being swollen. It is very dangerous. Also ask to have your swelling investigated urgently.
