As promised, I am providing an update now as promised after two weeks of taking Kimijea.
For 10 days I thought this was the cure I have always looked for , it was really great. No incidences of diahorrea , gut felt calm and BMs much more like one a day and normal . I went out and about without feelings in guts and always wondering if I would need to find a loo at short notice. In short terrific,
Then on Thursday , day 11 I think , I possibly spoiled things. We had guests visiting and I over indulged and probably had a bit more alcohol than normal. After that Friday stomach felt like back old ways and usual feelings . Sort of always being aware of minor discomfort in stomach and BM's a bit loose . Possibly due to drinking alcohol but cannot say for sure. Saturday and today okay , no episodes of diahorrea but gut not so calm and settled as it was on first 10 days or so.
I have now purchased a supply of 84 capsules , so will continue to take. I can say for certain , far less urgent need to dash to the loo and no D.
I am sorry that I might have spoiled my two week test with a silly night but you have to have a good time sometimes and live a bit.
I would say that I doubt if this product is a total cure but it has certainly improved things for me.
I hope this is useful to others and if anyone has questions or would like further updates I am happy to provide further information. If anyone wants to try it but not sure , as expensive, I think trying a two week supply should be sufficient to conclude if it is worthwhile or not. As regards side effects , I don't think I experienced any. Perhaps a bit more stomach gas but not trapped o,r painful , easy to pass.

I wouldn't beat yourself up too much to be honest - even normal people without stomach issues can suffer the next day or two if over indulging with either food or alcohol. Keep us posted. And crikey at the end of the day we too need a life - we are only human. If you enjoyed your evening that's what it's all about - but perhaps us with stomach issues takes us a bit longer to recover
One day of fun and normality, yay, that sounds good to me! If it still helps after that, then it wil be worth it. So will be interesting to hear how you progress. I wonder if it will work for ibsc. Where did you buy it? Your posts have been so helpful. Thank you.
I bought the product on Amazon , just chose best price on offer. Not sure about IBS C . It is supposed to work for both but I would say it tended to make me move more towards C than my predominant D.
Will1234 I have been taking Kijimea for almost 12 weeks now and have seen similar improvements to you. I have tentatively tried introducing a 'problem' food from time to time and found it still to cause minor symptoms. However to be able to go out and not worry about 'leakage' is a great bonus. I can definitely recommend trying kijimea for leaky gut and IBS symptoms. I doubt there is a complete miracle cure out there!
That is interesting that you have almost completed 12 weeks on Kimijea.
Will you stop taking for a while after 12 weeks completed or continue taking. Also , after say first 2weeks was there any change in benefit of taking for extended period ,or did things just sort of continue to help at much the same as initial level.
I agree that there is not a miracle cure but anything that allows some relief and a more normal life is probably worth while, despite the expense , as not a cheap product.
Overall , I think it is one of the few products I have tried , where there was a distinct and noticeable improvement in symptoms.
Great to hear someone else having similar results.
To answer your questions, I had planned to stop taking the kijimea after the 12 weeks were up as was recommended in the blurb. I will start again on my previous daily probiotic (Acidopilus Plus from Cytoplan) and see what happens! Over the 12 weeks I have noticed slow but gradual improvements. I was not ready to stop until recent weeks when bowel movements were finally regulated. I do hope it works well for you!
Hi Ann , -- Sounds like it is working well for you. I will continue for at least the 12 weeks. Good that there was slow gradual improvements. I get the impression, that we are both likely to stop for a while , at some point and see what happens. Perhaps a sort of on/off relationship with kimijea might be the likely future !!
Would be glad to hear more from you as regards how this develops and I will also update on my progress. Anything that helps us have a more normal life is good.
Hi ann., that sounds great . I seem to have gone a bit towards IBS c from IBS d . Still overall things feel better. Maybe a bit more wind after eating but worthwhile. I will continue taking.
Did you get bloating - which is my biggest problem - and constipation - I'm watching this thread with earnest as I may purchase. But it's a bummer that we don't seem to be able to have one day of enjoyment!
Hi Janet, Bloating and constipation were not really my problem once I got my thyroid sorted out. More recently it was the opposite! Kijimea has improved all of that. I do get some gas but that is always when I've gone too long without eating. I have to say i am very strict with my diet as I eat mostly fodmaps and am gluten free. I can recommend kijimea and suggest trying it for one month as, if it is going to work for you, you will see some improvements in that time.
Yes I've been watching the posts and updates on here - just fed up with the bloat to be honest and that impacts on trying to lose weight - I've been taking Healthspan and it's been quite good but it has Paracasei in and I am not too sure that it's a relative of L.Casei which is histamine raising - I have histamine intolerance too - I've been getting headaches and some facial puffiness which is usually a sign that something in it is not agreeing - I'm just taking half dose at the moment - sick of all of this though
Thank you Will for the update and it certainly sounds like it's working well for you. Also, don't beat yourself up re overindulging as after all you are only human and you have to live a little.
I'm sure if you hadn't been taking the capsules you would have been quite poorly after a good night but suffice to say you were just a little out of sorts.
Is there a reason you have to stop after 12 weeks? Would the gut get too used to it? Interesting though, I will have to look for it and read up about it x
I replied also but I was not entirely sure if the info actually stated it should heal the gut. I do hope that is correct. I emailed the company at one point and got what I thought was a pretty vague answer . Something about them not being able to be specific about how long probiotics would take to work and how long the effects would last as it varied fro person to person.
Maybe you have some other info. It would be great if it did heal and we were then well , however, I think you agree that a total cure is probably unlikely.
I don't think there is a reason why you would have to stop after 12 weeks. The main reason , is that 4 to 12 weeks was recommended by Kijimea. As you are looking at something which costs roughly £2.00 per day, around £160 for 12 weeks , ideally you would want to stop at some point.
The scientific researchers who came up with this unique probiotic say that their research, thinks that with IBS , there are small areas of damage to the intestinal wall . The product is supposed to act by sticking to the intestinal wall , acting like a sort of sticking plaster. As far as I can tell, they fall short of saying the product heals the damage but I think, that is what you would hope for. It all gets a bit vague because they say basically everybody is different but recommend a course of 4 to 12 weeks.
I think , if working , you would stop after 12 weeks and see what occurs . It may be that hopefully you remain feeling better , or things revert and you decide to continue taking the capsules.
I don't know what will occur after 12 weeks , so will need to cross that bridge in around 8 weeks time.
I hope this gives some explanation although I know it is not entirely clear.
Think if it works and you can afford even going to one per day I don't see why you can't take that beyond 12 week - most things you read about probiotics is that they should be in your daily routine
I emailed the company and asked would they give me a free trial to trial it as someone who has histamine intolerance - as we have a nightmare finding supplements that don't make the condition worse! Will let you know what they come back with
I mentioned that as I wrote on an IBS forum and the product subject was creating a lot of interest. I asked simply , if they would not consider a price drop if more people were prepared to trial the product or give a reduced price to long time users.
I meant to ask you , if you always take at same time every day and in relationship to when you have a main meal. If you for get and take at a different time , does it make any difference to how you feel it works. I sometimes think if I take pre eating , I get more wind/ gas afterwards ,usually evening meal.
Got my fingers crossed that when you stop things remain good . Even if you can stop for a lengthy period , it would be good.

Hi , I tend to take it just before evening meal. I forgot the other night and took later in the evening. I thought that following this, I had a lot of gas next morning . Not really a problem just different , however, as my IBS seems to give me periods of lots of wind in any case , not too easy to be too definite . I think that at this stage , 2 weeks in , I get more gas but this is better than multiple loo trips. Any pain goes away with the " wind" as it were !
All quite interesting and still got great hopes for this product .
Thanks for your continued updates. I find that beer is the culprit for me - as little as two pints can cause diarrhoea the next day, whatever probiotic regime I am on. That isn’t to say I avoid beer totally...
Other alcoholic drinks have a similar, but less predictable effects.
Before I come across as an alcoholic(!) I should point out that we have 4 or 5 alcohol free days a week and don’t binge when we do have a drink - perhaps I haven’t accustomed my digestive system to alcohol enough?!!
I’d be interested in reading anyone’s experiences of different types of beers and their comparative effects; wheat beers, lagers, strong (Belgian-type) beers, IPAs etc.
As I think some other replies have noted, we are all entitled to eat and drink indulgently every now and again - just need to be prepared for the effects.
Yes beer can be a trigger , perhaps gas or hops or chemicals. I think sulphates in wines often affect me but all alcohol is well known to have an effect . Even non IBS suffers can have bad guts after too much to drink. Personally I like a couple of glasses of wine or a vodka and coke but often think it is a cause of an attack.
I would guess it all depends on how bad the effects are. If you were really ill and very bad , you would probably not ever drink alcohol. On the other hand , if bearable and you can accept the outcome , you are likely to say to hell with it and have the odd good time and take the view that you want to feel normal like non suffers , occasionally at least.
And then we all may as well be dead - we need some treats don't we otherwise what a life - but I think we know how to handle and cope and I don't think that any of us are at an age where getting drunk on a Friday night is the main purpose! An odd glass of wine with a meal or couple out in the pub with friends. Hangovers the older you get - well I don't just cope any more! I've been reading that they are now producing wines with less calories and also less sulphites which I think the latter is the biggest problem especially if you have intolerances or allergies etc.
How is everyone who is taking this getting on. I had to stop Healthspan for the pain and the wind - was crippling - I know they say give it time for the bacteria to get used to the stomach etc. but I've been taking probiotics for 4 years so would have thought my stomach would at least recognise the strains but in all honesty the pain was starting soon after and lasting well into the next day - I did write to Healthspan because I felt there was a change in this box of what they contained - they said no but the original one I took I didn't have this pain As I break them open they tasted different - Healthspan did ask me to return the box but I had thrown it out - what would be the difference in every capsule in one box being light brown and yet a new box white. I have been so bloated this last week that I did wonder whether or not to try this probiotic but I really need to get rid of the bloat. Also constipation - I haven't felt so good with my bowels this last week also.
