Hi,

I also have an incomplete bowel-emptying problem which took me ages to learn how to manage.

I tried all the special diets out there and I have cupboard shelves which are bowed under the weight of various pills, potions and cures none of which worked.

By trial and error and doing a lot of Googling, I discovered that part of the issue for me was caused by use of a prescription progesterone cream (to stop post-menopausal night sweats). Apparently, progesterone in the system, that shouldn't naturally be there, causes loss of gut motility and, by stopping its use, matters improved considerably.

I would, however, still have a fair old problem if I didn't take a laxative most nights. I tried loads of different ones before I eventually got to OTC Dulcolax tablets which work extremely well as far as I'm concerned and don't cause issues such as bloating and wind. I also keep glycerin suppositories and micro-enemas on hand which I sometimes have to resort to if I haven't taken Dulcolax the previous night.

Different things work for different people and all you can do really is to try everything out for yourself. Do stay on this site, people come up with new ideas all the time.

Best wishes,

Cat

Bamdma look at what your eating cut out green food ,cabbage beans,do not eat anything with seeds in it that causes gas, example tomato take the mushy seeds out and eat the shell . Try more pasta ,

Sorry to disagree - but many people with IBS find pasta makes them very much worse - especially if it is made from wheat. It causes lots of bloating and definitely doesn`t help with incomplete evacuation (I wish I knew what did)

Janke eat more fruit and drink more water incomplete evacuation sounds like constipation ,aim to do 2 logs per day

For me pasta works I agree it doesn't work for everybody it's up to the individual person to work out what's good for them, experiment with food ,keep a diary of the food you eat and record the effect on you,eat plenty of fruit ,drink infusions or water

Just to clarify - incomplete evacuation is not the same as constipation. Sufferers can have quite loose motions but not able to pass them all at once. If that is the case, eating more fruit will not help

My problem was I would go to the Loo and be in there up to 2 hrs at a time with constant diarrea then feel really ill after it ,get showered then start going again that went on constantly for several days had to have the doctor in,my wife thought I was dying ,see your doctor if you have a problem that you cannot solve
