Hi Swanny,

There are many medicines you can take to relieve symptoms. This is also depending on if you have IBS-C, IBS-C or IBS-A (Constipation, Diarrhea, or alteration)

Buscaspan which can be bought from over the counter can help. A doctor can prescribe different medication to relieve symptoms also. Peppermint tea can help. Hot water bottles. Also diet, alot of people find FODMAP diet useful. I hope one of these suggestions help you. I wish I could advice you more but I am yet to find something to relieve my symptoms.

My best advice is to talk to a doctor or a pharmacist to find something suitable.

Oh and like sam561 said: Optibac probiotics. They reduced the discomfort somewhat. Definitely worth a try.

Hi, I have had IBS (Very Painful bloating every day) for about 10yrs, very recently found a fix for me - Optibac Probiotics 'Everyday' after taking a 7day ' Flat week' (designed for bloating symptoms) my symptoms have nearly gone - only thing that has worked for me they have an online website and are about £11 for a month supply 😄 they have different probiotic combinations depending on your symptoms so may be worh a try? Good luck.🙂

Hi, I have recently been diagnosed and have laxative powder drinks to have before going to bed. Got these from the Doctors. I also have started the FOD map diet. I can honestly say that I have found that onions and foods that contain MSG are causing me issues.

Do not know what the health issue is, be glad to offer anything I know about whatever is hurting you. Does anyone know about Hashimoto's (a thyroid issue) How can one tell if they have this? That is my question. I am new on this site too, but love it already. Feeling not

'so alone' now in health issues. Feel I have a forum now to get some questions answered.

Hi Swanny, welcome to this wonderful forum where we all try and help each other, you have come to the right place.

The best way I have found to try and handle IBS is by diet; I haven't got all the way there yet but have cut out raw carrots, raw and cooked onions, sweetcorn, Lactose and much less broccoli than I was eating. This is work in process and I will get there slowly but surely.

Hope this helps.

Like others say it seems to be down to diet and intolerances. Had blood tests done. Cost a lot but identified things I ate daily as problem ( dairy, egg, soy, yeast) . Since stopping these have had no bloating. Next stop is fodmap if other problems persist. Had already realised that onIons and garlic are taboo for me. Very restrictive but wonderful to have flat tummy and virtually no pain😀😀😀
