Hi My name is Stafford or Staff for short

I am an IBS Sufferer and i have bouts of IBS When i am going through an emotional time or when i eat certain foods.

It can last all day and begone by the evening then it might come back a few days after.

It is so Annoying because i have to stay in because i find in embarrassing.

Some people that don't suffer from it can be so horrible i had an attack in a shop once where i had to go to the toilet and i came out of the toilet and this lady said what a smell i was really embarrassed and very upset so now if i have IBS i either go home or i don't go out until maybe the next day or a few day after the attack.

Hi Staff

I'm really sorry you are suffering and totally understand... I have had problems like this for years, its not easy but there is nowadays a lot more help available.

Have you tried acidophilus? I'm finding it very helpful and take one a day just after food or 2 if my tum is "playing up"..the one I take now is quest mega 8 biotix its not cheap but definitely worth it and I get it now on Amazon for £11-14 cost me £21 in the health shop. There are others so maybe shop around for one that suits you.

Have you tried dietary changes? There are known triggers and yet it seems we are all different and I think its a case of finding what your body doesn't cope with.

I have read that our stools smell more offensive if we are intolerant to something we are eating. As for the "lady" who made such a rude unecessary comment ive been there too...its embarrassing I remember being stuck in a toilet in a lot of pain and hearing a lady saying oh what a smell there must be something wrong with you...i was so upset and I nearly said from inside the toilet yes actually there is something wrong I am suffering extreme pain and your thoughtless comments are very distressing...but I didn't...she sounded like she was getting on in her years and I let it go but I was very upset I was already carrying mini sprays with me to deodorise any loo I had to dive into but didn't always work. Anyway sorry rambling on please remember that it says a lot about her as a person if she's willing to make comments like that and she might well have regretted saying it afterwards.

I hope you feel better and hope I've helped in some way..please remember you are not alone in this...

Take care

Staff. You are not alone. I've been on this IBS roller coaster off and on for decades. I didn't have a clue that several of my favorite foods were causing it back then. There's alot more information now and things to try. Mine turned into leaky gut then Hashimoto's. I've done a lot of work with elimination diet and functional medicine doctor and made very much progress. But I seem to be sensitive to so many foods still that I get those stay at home days still when I try to re-introduce a food. I've found that fasting for the rest of the day after an offending food helps me come back faster. That's hard to do though, luckily I am retired. Good luck and try to ignore the ignorant who make comments.

Hi there Stafford, I completely understand your predicament as when I took part in the Moonwalk in 2015 (this was the 4th year I had taken part) a while before I finished I started to feel poorly. I did make it to the end, got my medal and raced to the toilet (I have IBS C so it's quite unusual for me to suffer the other way so I actually count myself as lucky). Once I had finished I did feel better so went off to a coffee shop with someone I had met whilst doing the walk as it was around 05:00 and the tube wasn't due to open until 07:00. I ordered my drink, sat down as did enjoy it but then all of a sudden I needed to use the toilet but there were only 2 in the coffee shop and there were 2 people in front of me. How I managed to wait I'll never know but I did and when I got in there I was so relieved but of course, as you say, it doesn't smell very pleasant.

I felt okay when waiting for the tube and got on the first one and was fine as I was sat down but on the second tube it was fairly full so I had to stand up and started to feel poorly again. Once at the train station I was waiting at the counter to pass in my Oyster card as I had some money on it and I was just about bent double and thought if they don't hurry up then I'll have to run off. Luckily enough I managed to hand in my card and as soon as I did that I said to the person that was with me 'sorry but I'm going to have a find a toilet pretty quick'. Once I had been I started to feel nauseous (I get this intermittently with IBS) and was so pleased that the train station had a chemist as well as a mini supermarket so managed to get some Stugeron travel sick tablets for the nausea (these work well for me) and anti diorrhea pills.

Since the above episode I haven't taken part in the Moonwalk again but I am determined to beat this with diet so I can take part again next year.

I'm really sorry that you had to put up with someone that had little understanding and was actually quite cruel, they certainly wouldn't want this condition.

Sorry for the long reply but just to let you know that you are not alone.
