Hello. Has anyone had any allergy/intolerance to confirm if they should avoid certain foods? I suffer with IBS C&D and was thinking of having a blood test but have read that these are not definitive. Would love to know more and learn about other peoples experiences.
Thanks

Hi there, I suffer from IBS C&D as well. My predominant symptoms are abdominal pain and extreme bloating/distention.
I had a food intolerance/sensitivity test, and was found to be sensitive to peanuts, green peas, and wheat/gluten. I followed the recommendation of avoiding these foods for 3 weeks and then re-introducing. Unfortunately, I did not find any difference or relief by eliminating these foods. I don't think I actually have any sort of allergy or sensitivity. However, I find that following a low FODMAP diet, in general, is helpful for me, so I do tend to avoid gluten whenever possible these days. But I'm always eating peanut butter.
I am always down for trying new tests, medications, etc. but I'm just not fully convinced on the food sensitivity test. Though my coworker had great relief by eliminating foods after a food sensitivity test, but she suffered largely from migraines, rather than IBS.
I had one years ago and didn't find it much help. As mentioned above a strict elimination diet of fodmaps+ gluten+ dairy sorted many things out.
All I've ever read is that they do not work.
You can do your own intolerance tests by leaving one food group at a time out of your diet for at least 3 weeks keeping a food and bowel movement diary to see what changes there might be
Try dairy first replacing it with Alpro and a dairyfree spread
Hi, I had a blood test years ago and it turned out to be dairy and eggs. I cut them out and felt so much better. But over the years symptoms have come back. But as my doctor said they are never accurate and after recently finding out I have IBS it makes me think it might be that x
I did food sensitivity testing about 6 months ago. I eliminated all the items from my diet. It did not change my symptoms. There are mixed reviews about the tests efficacy. Most MDs say they are bunk.
