Lactulose solution is great. You can get it over the counter at most chemists or on presciption. You do have to drink a lot of water for it to work but its very mild on the digestive system.
Try Normacol,it's a bit expensive, but it's pure fiber, and you can take as much or as little as you need. I swear by it.
Where can I get that from please ?
Most Pharmasist ,but definitely Boots, you may have to ask at the Pharmacy for it.
I take Laxido on prescription because it's expensive to buy.Sometimes I have to use glycerin suppositories.
Good luck
Natural way would be plenty of water, even better would be fresh lemon with warm water. warm water does help every day, best in the morning. also I know Buscopan is there for cramps but in helping to relieve inner problems, it does also regulate you a bit. I find the best way is just plenty of warm water with lemon, if you are then suffering with symptoms of constipation then hot water bottle against tummy as that soothes and then anything that needs to come out, will. I find that peppermint tablets and lactulose etc.. are strong and can sometimes make you go the opposite way and are just a short term relief as it weakens your bowel from working well enough itself. there are certain foods that would help too to avoid it, pineapple is meant to help, and eating less carby food.
I suffered with ibs d until it was completely sorted with the low fodmap diet, but for the first time in my life I have experienced occasional awful constipation.
I have porridge for breakfast with two teaspoons of chia seeds and one of flax seeds, plus a handful of blueberries or raspberries. So far this has sorted things. I was given Lactulose by a pharmacist, but have since discovered that IBS suffered should not take it, so I am steering clear.
I also think that a natural way is he best way.
Good luck,

I just ensure I eat Broccoli on occasion and have honey-nut shredded wheat once a week. Seems to help with me! Also don't have too much bread or potatoes.
I take 4 tablet of senokot and 2 softener tablet also liquid senokot twice a day and now my doc as me on Mirtazapine. God hep me I still have cramps from hell.
Lynn,I've been on Mirtazapine for 8yrs,it's never helped me,and it's hell to try and withdraw from,so if I was you don't be like me,if after a month you feel no better, seriously think about asking your Doctor for an alternative.
I have been prescribed Movicol recently, have not tried it yet. I thought it was for 'clearing out' the bowel, not for normal constipation. Has anyone tried it?
Yes it works well,so take it easy until you know how well it works for you.
Movicol works for me but don't overdo it.also lactulose is a good.stool softener.
I'm not recommending it under any circumstances but cider in the evening always produces a good no. 2 in the morning. Must be the apples lol ! On the serious side, my GP perscribed Laxido to me. I take one sachet each night. Two sachets seem to soften things up too much and I struggle to push out the stools. My IBS-C is worse around ovaluation time and I might take Ducolax on a friday night around OV time and have a good clear out on the saturday. Powerful stuff though.
I take Aracia fiber. You have to take it a 1/2 teaspoon stirred in water. There is a wonderful website, "Help for IBS". It is run by Heather Van Doross. She has had IBS for over 20 years. She sends the latest information on IBS in a Newsletter, along with products she sells on her website specifically fir IBS.
I drink Traditional Medicinal tea called Smooth Move. It has senna and it really, really works!! All natural! Try it!!
I was using laxatives fairly long term and I think they eventually made my problem worse so stopped them. I swear by prune juice now, large glass before I go to bed.
Hi ,
I had this problem of not going to the toilet for a week, or maybe once if I'm lucky. It started to get me worried because even If I visit a toilet, I then struggle to take it out (you know what I mean). I had to push very hard, and only for one small piece of sh*t to come out. so, I researched more than 6 months. I got many solution, but none really worked for me, only one tried/ seemed to be working, which was the capsuled named "colon ecology", I was able to go to the toilet with this pills, but I had to rely/ depend on them, they are a bit expensive. once I finished them, the problem just got bigger and worse.
This is strange because I eat the same food as my little brother and my sisters. but they don't experience the problem I have. They use a toilet every day.
Now Working solution found. I stated to digging more on the web. And I came across an article that consist of " a lemon has the fluid needed by your digestion system ......." blablabla. But I cannot remember the source and all the details.
I then tried to buy a lemon juice (un-mixed), As you can guess (it did not work, and it does not taste nice, then I quitted it, this was 6 months ago),
HOWEVER, 2 weeks ago I found myself relieved. I just went to a shop and buy sirjuice.co.za/product/reta...
Its just a nice juice, I'm sure its the one that helped me.
the first day I bought 2 of them, I noticed a difference on my toilet going. the following day, I did the same, for 3 days, afterwards, I just buy 1 (once a day). from then, I can now go to the toilet twice a day, sometimes once a day.
I don't know what it did to my body, but for me, this did help me.
so I tot I must share this information with you who have the same problem. I think I must say that I'm from SA and the shops selling this juice is (pick'npay, foodlovers, etc).
I just hope it helps
I find Fybogel taken in the evening keeps me going, excuse the pun, because of other problems doctor says I must not become constipated and Fybogel is fine to take every day
