I have mild IBS, which swings between constipation and diarrhoea. I have read that slippery elm powder can help with both these symptoms, and am interested to hear from anyone who uses it. I have some powder, but don't know what sort of dose I should try, so any advice will be very welcome.

Slippery elm powder for IBS?
I don't know about this one, but look it up on the net, or go to Holland and Barratt, they may help. Good luck hope it helps you.
I haven't heard of this either but it sounds interesting. Please let us know how it goes if you can figure out the dosage, hope it helps you.
I tried Slippery Elm quite a long time ago and it didn't do anything for me. If remember I purchased it from a local health food shop where I live. Personally I would try anything as everyone is different and what works for one doesn't always necessarily work for the other.
One thing to note though, it doesn't taste very nice.
Best of luck and I hope it works for you.
I used it as i cant have glutamine i didnt notice a diff but i was told that u must not take to close to other meds as it may make them absorb less
Hi Angel,
I really like Slippery Elm...it is very healing to the lining on the intestines, and will very often relieve the pain you suffer after a bout with constipation. If you have trouble with trapped gas, it can also help with that...
I used it during those occasional times when I feel like my intestines are just mildly aching or hurting... I have used it for years, and have never been disappointed with it. I usually take 3 Slippery Elm capsules together with one Marshmallow capsule... Hope this helps.
