Hello every-one,

I've had IBS for years after seeing a gastrorentologist, for a colonostomy and camera down my throat.Blood tests etc.I have IBS diarrohea mainly .Last night I started with the usual horrendous pain in my lower leftside and knew I wasn't going to make it to the toilet.I stood up and started sweating then the feeling I was going to pass out out.I had to tell myself I was going to be ok[I live alone.I didn't pass out fortunately I then took a buscopan in case the horrendous pain came back and two loperamide as suggested by the gastrorenterologist. This morning I feel worn out and my stomach is bubbling

Do other people with this condition sometimes feel they are going to pass out.It up until now does not happen too often, but scares me when I feel this way.

Thanks for reading.

I know I've had it where I'd get up in the middle of the night and just lay in the bathroom in case I need to use it and either pass out from the pain or my body being exhausted, not sure which, but you're not alone at least

I am sorry to hear you have the same problem Ellipsal. It's very scary.I've spent today resting worried it might happen again as my stomach is still gurgling.Hope you don't get many of these attacks.

Yes, I am also going the same particular phase and its horrible! Had IBS for years after contracting gastroenteritis, then much later food poisoning. Last year started some new blood pressure tablets and since then have occurrences like you have mentioned, it really makes you feel teribly anxious for days afterwards.

It is hell when the pain is bad! Worse than childbirth without a doubt. It will go - hang on to that.x

Have you considered food intolerance tests - ie cutting say dairy from your diet - I was diagnosed 2 years ago and when I went on to a completely dairy free diet my symptoms were under control within 3 weeks

A lot of people swear by the FODMAP diet but I haven't had to try it myself

Thank you for your replies.I haven't tried the FODMAP diet[not sure even what it is] I don't get these episodes often touchwood perhaps three times or so a year.I usually put it down to food poisoning maybe I'm wrong.Once when it occurred I'd had a takeaway chinese meal, another time fish from the chippy[to be honest didn't taste right] then this week decided to buy an already cooked chicken from a supermarket.I don't have take aways very often once in a blue moon so perhaps I shouldn't even have them.

I've just had my blood pressure tablets increased[about 3 months ago] though they have not changed type.Yes I understand about the anxiety of it happening again, that won't help matters but still can't help it.

Never had children but now I understand why they shoot horses because of the horrendous pain.

Take care all.

I feel quite dizzy and have hot sweats before a bowel movement. Sometimes morethan others but I have IBS A so it is worse when switching between C and D. Sometimes I am so dizzy I have to lay down. This is less since I have been on Fodmaps diet. So you are not alonebut I am afraid I have not found anything to help yet other than that. Good luck

I have often had the sweats and lightheadedness/greying of vision and have blacked out a couple of times.Funnily enough I had the same feeling towards the end of childbirth! Its the body's natural response to extreme pain-it shuts down.If I feel dodgy I sit down on the floor with my back against a wall-not so far to go if the worst happens! The worst time is if you are on the loo-I always wonder if I will fall off and make a right mess!Hasn't happened so far thank goodness!Mine seems to be very much menstrual cycle related . x

Sorry you have the awful feeling you have with the pain, can I ask how long you blacked out for it's all scary isn't it.

The awful thing is you never know when you are going to get the pain and it comes on so suddenly.

Take Care and thanks for your replyxx
