Can Amitryptilene make you feel angry

I have noticed that several posters on this website are using Amitryptilene. I have a friend who has been taking it for about a week and she is finding that one of the side effects is that she gets very angry and she also has insomnia. Has anyone else had these problems?

My Husband takes it and it helps him sleep.I think we're all different .

Hi Brandywell, I have been on Amitryptilene, for just over a month - and do get some awful mood swings with it, as for the insomnia, that could be part of the anger issues. But most people tend to take the tablet just before going to bed and have to wait for it to kick in. Tell your friend to try taking it a couple of hours before they go to bed.

Likewise. I've never heard of it. Check if it's on the list of possible side effects, and other matters involved may be triggering the moods and bad moods.

We are indeed all different. If it really concerns your friend perhaps another visit to doctor is indicated.

Not quite sure why amitrip for IBS?

I was put on amitriptyline but I had so many of the side effects I have come off it and gone back to Mirtazapine which I don't really like either.
