I take imodium most days to get me through not ideal but just take two and am good to go for the day :)

Have you a lactose/dairy intolerance or have you tried eliminating this from your diet.

A lot of tablet medication contains lactose like Immodium and ibuprofen.

A strict dairy free diet keeps my symptoms at bay and 2 years ago I was on the toilet about 7/8 times a day and always about 4/5 hours after eating anything containing dairy

Likewise. There are a couple of preparations over the counter but please talk to Doctor. I get loperamide (Immodium) on prescription. I have to take it every day but most days I'm ok. It paralyses the gut movement and reduces cramps. It's among the safer ones. Not for everyone. Check out NHS Choices. There's some useful info.

I returned to work yesterday and I was apprehensive as I too have daily IBS-D symptoms and have been having accidents. I am now taking Immodium daily and it really does the trick. No more problems. However I have asked my GP to refer me to a dietician so that I can try to get to the root cause so that hopefully I will not need to take immodium long term.
