Everything from my belly button across and downwards feels like my insides are being squeezed feels inflammatory. Had colonoscopy & CT all clear so am left with IBS diagnosis, prior to having the colonoscopy I was only having a couple of bad days a month now it's non-stop discomfort keep beating myself up telling my husband I should have never had the colonoscopy he tries to reassure me saying its coincidence? Colleagues at work are as baffled as me why has it taken over my life? If anyone else has experienced pain like me this has now been 7months no rest bite thank you.

This is my 2nd post am really struggling with pain 24/7 feel like I have a gremlin inside me.
Sounds like you really need to find out what's causing your pain etc. have you tried the low FODMAP diet? I am currently in week 5 of 8 of the elimination phase and I feel so much better. Calm tummy as well! Check out the Monash University Low FIDMAP diet. It makes sense to me.
Hi Yes a friend of mine has suggested it and a lady called Roz on this site, I am currently on a dairy free diet suggested by my Gastro Doc who I saw on Monday think he is just suggesting anything at this stage. Can I ask what symptoms have improved for u? I just feel like it's an upset stomach everyday I don't suffer with diarrhoea. Thanks again.
I know exactly how you feel. I have been in pain for 8 years now. Have done all the tests. I do have collagenous colitis which I was diagnosed with 8 years ago. I have done the FODMAP diet which really helped. It proved that a Dairy free diet works for me but I also need to avoid some fruit and veg. Dairy free diet is very difficult to do though because nearly everything has some dairy product in it.
I've been in the same situation where I have had pain continually. I've had IBS-D for many many years and the one thing I've learnt is we're all different, have different triggers for our IBS. A friend's daughter recently did the FODMAP diet and discovered that she can't eat potatoes! She's cut them out and has had no pain since. You need to find out what your trigger is if possible so this diet is a start although it sometimes may be a combination of things. IBS can also be linked to adrenaline the stress hormone. Are you feeling stressed at work or at home? I realise you may be stressed about your current situation and pain it just then becomes a vicious circle. I was at the end of my tether with the pain recently and went back (again) to the GP. She has put me on Amitriptyline 10mg which after 2 weeks I've started to notice a difference, stomach much calmer and not as painful. Early days yet but I'll keep going with it. I don't think the colonoscopy would cause you this continual pain, like your husband says it's probably a coincidence it started when it did. You can try the FODMAP diet yourself or ask your GP to refer you to a dietician and do it that way. Good luck I hope you find a solution to what's causing you pain. Don't put up with it though. Sometimes you need to be persistent with your GP!
Hi winniep Just wanted to say I am in total agreement with you re the stress element. Having watched my son suffer for 14 years with IBS I am even more certain that 9 times out of 10 it is linked to his mind. You only have to read all the sad stories on here to see that nearly everyone's symptoms differ to varying degrees bar the fact they are stressed. Sadly the mental health services in the UK are very poor and waiting times far too long. It's all a viscous circle really. If anybody found a cure for this what a rich person they'd be.
My second colonoscopy caused 10 years of horror. It wasn't the procedure it was the prep. Some preparations have the same irritants I am sensitive to in the FODMAPs groups. And the doc was not able to complete the colonoscopy because the colon wasn't completely cleaned out! No coincidence. I was in the emergency room and back to the GI doctor many times that year and he told me "you're full of crap." I was so shocked I suffered in silence until I read about FODMApS. I also found a kindly GI doctor who was able to complete the colonoscopy after 2 days prep. Good luck.
Thank you to everyone for taking the time to reply it really does help to talk none of my friends/colleagues can relate to what I'm going throught this could only happen to me I'm the one since turning 28, 15yrs ago I have had all the weird health probs none of them which can be fixed but thankfully not life or death, thought I had already been tested to the limit but this is more distressing than any of them. I will look at doing the fodmap diet it's just so hard I work in an office people eating all day long that used to be me not anymore
Yep, I also have 24/7 pain almost the same as you described. It started off in June and was only occasionally but it soon became all the time. I’ve had a CT scan 2 weeks ago but still waiting for results. The consultant doing the scan hints it’s IBS but I have just recently been having awful symptoms after eating even IBS ok bread so think I may actually have coeliac disease as well. My granny had that too so may have inherited that. Battling with constipation too. Swallowing pain pills every 4 hours but wake up at 2 am in pain and have already taken the max pain pills in the 24 hour period so lie awake writhing. Just eating FODMAP cornflakes with no gluten and hoping things improve. Really battling to eat anything else so fading away too.
