Hi. I have just joined the site and saw your post. My daughter was diagnosed with IBS about 3 years ago after suffering for years with various misdiagnosed conditions. It was a move to a different doctor which finally had her diagnosed as IBS, and which afforded her the opportunity of taking part in a programme being run at Wythenshaw Hospital in the Manchester area. Basically, she was offered a course of hypnotherapy, same time, same day over several weeks (sorry can't remember how many) and she told me that through hynosis she was able to identify triggers for the anxiety issues that can cause IBS symptoms (and I hasten to add that she had a very stressful job at the time) and then focussed on things that gave her the most pleasure. The upshot of it all was that once these were identified she attended sessions where when hypnosis made her feel anxious she had to place her finger on an agreed location on her abdomen and focus on the agreed topic or memory that brought her most joy. The pressure on her tummy when spasms occurred activated the happy thoughts and the spasms lessened or went away. She was given an audio disc to listen to and had to meditate 20 minutes in the morning before rising and in the evening before bed. This reaffirmed the hypnosis. As far as I am aware this has worked and is still working for her. I hope this helps x

Hello again. Yes! That's him. She was very impressed with him and the outcome. Good luck with the rest of your course. Stay positive. Who knows, maybe I will end up seeing him too :O)

Give it time. Give yourself time. This is probably the most important thing you can do to help your IBS - give yourself time.
