O'h yes Bennybean, in my opinion this is all part of the long term affect of IBS. You worry about going out for meals, travelling too far just in case. When you have a bad attack that is when anxiety really kicks in and your worrying makes your symptoms worse. You can rise above it by keeping busy and find a therapy that helps you. I wish you well

I have severe anxiety and agoraphobia. I was also diagnosed with PTSD about 5 years ago due to trauma that happened earlier on in my life. My IBS started 20years ago and from there has never left me. I have it daily. No flare ups, it is constant. The thing is ? Is it like the chicken and the egg? Which came first? The IBS or the anxiety? And I am still not quite sure but I do know that the anxiety feeds the IBS and the IBS feeds the anxiety! It is a vicious circle that really is very hard to get out of!!! I finally found a GP who was understanding and has told me that there is not a single solution to manage IBS but a mixture of various things. CBT, hypnotherapy, medication diet etc and everyone is an individual and will have to find their own mixture! The problem is trying to find it!!! Trial and error! Hope you find your mixture!
