I suddenly became very ill at the begining of August and following ct scans, ultasound scans and colon and endo scopes have been diagnosed with severe gastriris and ibs (ruled out crohns). I wondered if anyone else has both problems? I am also experiencing lots of tingling in my tummy, is this usual with ibs?

Gastritis and ibs
Your GP & Gastro are on the ball to have all that done since August - I started Sept last year and they still doing tests - believe it or not you are very lucky. The tingling sensation in your tummy is likely to be the gastritis. It means you have inflamation of the lining of your stomach. From what I just read in my oxford medical dictionary you may have a Heliobacter pylori infection or autoimmune problem as these can cause spontaneous onset (smoking, alcohol or injesting any corrosive substance is linked to it also). Given that your lining of your stomach is being irritated as it is inflamed I think the tingling is a symptom of it but if it is worrying you go back to your GP/Gastro and just ask them. It may be worth asking if they have any advice what to eat to not cause as much irritation to your stomach. Hope you feel better soon.
Thank you for reply. The reason so many tests were done was because I was admitted to hospital with a ruptured ovarian cyst and then the surgeon felt a mass in my abdomen. The gastritis is a complete mystery, non smoker or drinker, eat a healthy diet and h pylori negative. Medications are helping but still no Dr has been able to explain why I suddenly developed IBS and gastritis. I am due to have a laparoscopy in a month to see if they can find the cause of the pain in my right iliac fossa. I think reading some of the experiences of others on this and the pelvic pain forums, I am lucky to have such a brilliant GP.
