Nausea

I had a brain tumour removed 3 years ago and my last mri came back clear (so happy!!) but I’ve been suffering with nausea more often lately. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do? It’s really getting me down. Thank you in advance

Hi Kirst1986, I had a craniotomy 3 years ago and another craniotomy 5 months ago, I do get nausea from time to time and headaches, shakiness, diarrhoea and other symptoms, which I put down to the tumours and medication, but it’s always best to speak to your Doctor, nurse or consultant so they can give you advice on what to do. Hopefully the nausea will go away soon for you. Every time I feel ill I worry, which then makes the nausea worse. Good luck and stay positive.

Hey kirst1986,

I agree with everything everyone has suggested, you know you better than anyone so if you have any changes best bet is a medical opinion. The symptoms of brain tumours can be so many different things its hard to differentiate and i know I worry too. How long ago was your mri? Don't leave out any worries or symptoms when explaining as that can be the difference between what a Dr looks into.

I find something minty helps with sickness, can also settle stomache ( in me anyway). Coca cola interestingly also provided some relief sometimes, maybe its the caffeine and sugar who knows.

Keep us updated,

In July my last mri was. My neurosurgeon phoned this week to say everything was all clear.

I eat mints as it helps Ease the nausea and breadsticks if I can face food.

Plain cream crackers or digestive biscuits were my go to ( still are sometimes).

Stay strong

Ginger nut biscuits help too

Yes, completely forgot those, I always asked for them off the tea and coffee angel ( believe me they are) and then got my bf to buy me a packet or two on my next visit

Hi Kirsty. In my case five years on and I’m still having those sicky feelings. I’ve found I need bubbles! Like lemonade for instance. It’s been pretty much a constant for me. I think I’ve developed an obsessive nature to all this and I have cravings for things that I wouldn’t normally have. Like wurthers sweets. I got a taste for the sugar free ones but came at a cost. I was over indulging in them and I found out the hard way that too much sugar free stuff gives you a dicky tummy. Have now banned them from my shopping list. It’s now polos! Not the sugar free ones as I’m not liking the flavour but I think I’m eating too many again. It’s just to get rid of that nausea feeling welling up. It seems water with a touch of cordial is a good quick fix. It doesn’t get rid of that constant issue of feeling blah but it is a small comfort! Find your go to fix just to freshen up your mouth. I’m not sure how long this will last. We are all so different in our individual struggles. Just good to be able to have likeminded folk to bounce ideas off. 🤔 x

I always have polos. I hate the sugar free one. They are not minty enough and the texture is weird. Too smooth 😂😂😂

I find bread sticks good. They do mini packets in a big bag in one shop (Home Bargains) that have sea salt On them But they don’t have them in stock often But When they have them in stock there are never many packets. So I stock up! Tried others brands but They haven’t got salt which I thinks helps

I try and eat crisps depending on how sicky I feel, if I only feel a little sick I enjoy some strong flavours (when I used to be hungover haha bbq beef hola hoops used to be my go to crisps) or if I’m feeling really yucky Pom bears ready salted.

Phoned the gp and she’s prescribed tablets . not sure what they are called as it was a phone appointment and I’m still waiting for the prescription but hopefully they’ll help

Hopeful if you can get something to help! The concoction of medication I’ve had is ridiculous! I’ve got a fantastic situation currently! Sweat... and I mean sweat! I’m having a side affect to one of my meds and it’s beyond silly! I’ve even cancelled a hair appointment. Could you imagine how it would look if I walk in “glowing“. It’s not fair on the lass who cuts my hair to be faced with a sweaty situ. Especially with Covid. It really upsets me. With all the nonsense that I’ve been through since surgery 1, I think this has really pushed my buttons. It’s just awful! Anyway iced gems! Omg they really do have the moreish thing going on. I will try bread sticks and the sea salt would just be delightful! Agree sugar free polos are wrong on any level! Here’s hoping you have results with new meds. Here’s hoping and spread the word if they are a success! 👍🌸😄

If I take my medication on an empty stomach then I know I’m going to be feel sick haha

Iced gems haven’t had those in years!! I’ll have to add those to my shopping list

It does suck but remember we are warriors 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

I’ve got bread sticks on my shopping list already! I think I get more satisfaction from eating snack food more than a regular meal! Such a no no meds on empty tum! During lockdown I had a banana angel delight on the go all the time! If we’ve got to take meds there’s got to be a plus and my plus is “snacks”. It’s hard to feel like a warrior most days but I’m going to remember that! Would be nice to just feel normal! Am not asking much! Even one day a week would be smashing! Don’t forget to let us all know how you go on sicky drugs! Sharing is caring so someone once said! I’ve not done this forum thing before but there’s a lot to be said for it! Nice to chat today 😇
