Hi All,

I was diagnosed with a brain tumor grade 2 Ependymoma in March of 2024. I had surgery but the doctor could only remove 10 To 15 % because of the location and several nerves surrounding the mass. I had radiation but after completion there was no change. Didn’t shrink but also didn’t grow. I have several symptoms which have taken me out of work. Constant vertigo, occasional nausea/vomiting,headaches, and fatigue. I get MRI’S regularly. I am on on several meds,Hydrocortisone, Tramadol, Ondansetron, Promethazine and Lorazapam. I’m concerned about the Tramadol I heard it is very addictive and hard to discontinue. I have been on it for several months. I have also been trying to wean off the steroids for about 7 to 8 months now. My body reacts badly when I get to a low dosage. I did go from Dexamethasone to Hydrocortisone a weaker steroid but can’t seem to completely get off it.

Hello, thank you for reaching out. It sounds like you are managing a lot at the moment with your symptoms and recovering after treatment. I’m sure there are members of the group who this will resonate with. It’s understandable that you may have questions, or concerns, about medication levels. If you have been allocated a specialist nurse, it is always best to speak with them, or contact your specialist for advice on this.

Macmillan’s advice line may also be able to answer some medical questions: macmillan.org.uk/about-us/c...

I hope this helps, warm wishes - The Support Team.

Cancer on the brain is so unfair. No where more difficult to remove. I hope all works in your favour. Unfortunate the side effects of some of your pills. You have been assigned so many. Hopefully they are all working together. Good luck moving forward. Sending all the best
