Suggestion on xray test and lft test

Hi, I have been taking tb medicines from August 2019 as tb specialist asked to take for minimum of 9 months by checking xray and lft test results for every 6 weeks. Now I am more worried to visit hospital due to fear of coronavirus. I am also new to UK. Any suggestions where to take xray and LFT test

Hi go2murali

I think you would need to discuss this with your TB team. They are the only ones really that can advise you on this. They will be able to let you know what resources they have... and also and hopefully reassure on your anxieties. You could ask for the first appointment at 9am to avoid large crowds perhaps? Your test are important, but the good thing is that hopefully you are now getting better since you have been on your meds for a while and stopping everything in it’s track. All the best x

I came to UK only recently. I was taken care by pulmonologist in my country. I am planning to meet any pulmonologist in Reading now.

Are you saying you are not under anybody’s care at the moment then? If not get an immediate appointment by registering with your GP and explain what the situation is (today if possible) they will then advise you on your next immediate step. This is very important you get this sorted ASAP.

Hi go2murali,

I can understand why you would be concerned about potentially being exposed to the coronavirus when you are already ill with TB. However, I can reassure you that TB services have strong infection control measures that they will be following.

Also, ensuring that your TB treatment goes well will protect your health in the longterm - so it is vital that you attend your appointments.

As hottchoc says, your TB Team will be able to help manage your concerns so do please speak to them if you need to.

Best wishes,

Helen
